Craziness man...

She was (supposedly) quoting or paraphrasing an NRA email.

That being said, it's disgusting to me that teachers are using their positions of power to recruit and indoctrinate their political beliefs, rather than educate. I can see challenging students, being hard on them, by presenting your political view and defending it rigorously, but telling them how to conduct protests on their behalf? That's ridiculous.

I find that video utterly upsetting.  Not only because of the twisted message that she, the teacher, is sending but also the fact that she is a TEACHER.  I used to be a licensed DOE teacher for the state of Hawaii.  I will tell you this the majority of them just like that woman are ignorant and push their own personal agenda and beliefs on their students.  They are often times so caught up in their own personal lala land that they fail to teach our kids what they really need to know.  Because of that attitude I left teaching behind and now I work construction.  You don't know how many teachers I know look down on construction workers and see them as stupid and uneducated, much like how that woman grouped all gun owners into the violent/murderous category.  My wife is a teacher and an awesome shooter, but she is afraid to speak out about guns because she is afraid that she will be ostracized by her co-workers who are just as uneducated and ignorant about firearms as that teacher.

My kids will know the difference between right and wrong and they will know that having a gun does not make you a bad person.  Just like anything else your actions are what people will ultimately judge you by.  Sure race, color, creed, and group affiliation skew their view slightly, but in the end it is what you do or don't do that will prevail.
