Pakalolo Ban

So last year, many got a letter saying to turn in their guns due to medical MJ usage.  They had 60 days IIRC.  Then about 5 weeks or so later, HPD chief said never mind.

So what happened to all those who did turn their guns in early?

Did they get them back?  Did they have to reapply for a permit or pay for RAPBACK?

I bring this up because if worst case scenario comes out and all semi auto rifles are banned, but then overturned what to do?

only 2 people complied and the firearms were returned

If anyone plans on complying with this gun confiscation BS, turn in the receiver.  Strip all the parts off and if you still want to comply with the BS at least sell the parts and let the state  steal less of the money you spent.

Oh, they'll "get around" that option. They'll "amend" the bill or pass another bill in the near future that would ban ("felonize") possession of all the "features" that define the "assault weapon" that "could" be used the to create such a weapon. And I suspect at that point the list of "features" will be expanded. Just sayin'... we know what the goal is, it's just a question for them of exactly how to incrementalize civilian disarmament.

Those parts are not registered though.  Those parts can come through the mail without an FFL.  Family on the mainland can mail them to you.

Just like Brower isnt going to set up TSA on the front door of every hotel in the state to get his hotel ban to make any difference.  They arent going to start scanning every box that comes into the state for a random plastic grip or BUIS.  If you turned in your receiver they dont have the man power to search every home. They cant even afford real police cars on the big island.  Our local cop does not even have radar.  He just stands outside the car next to the stop sign with his arms crossed looking angry.

If illegal fireworks can make it into the state by the container full, they can do nothing to stop someone who wants a working firearm to get a working firearm.

Agree 100%. But what they can do by making such items illegal is attempt to intimidate "typical law-abiding citizens" by threatening them with arrest, prosecution and possible imprisonment should they, under whatever circumstance, be found to be possessing such items. Does anyone believe that no one in this state possesses a stun gun? A guy used to sell them (among lots of other stuff)  brand new in the box at the Maku'u Market in Puna every Sunday... sitting right out there in the open and clearly labeled "stun gun". I was rather "surprised" to see them there, considering that there were cops walking around there every Sunday. I mentioned to him that they were "technically" illegal in Hawaii, and he was incredulous. (Virtually) none of these laws prohibiting law-abiding citizens from possessing self-defense tools can have any effect on criminals. thus the "suspicion" that there is some other agenda at work.

If no one turned in their now banned items, they don't have the manpower to go looking for all the once legal but now illegal weapons and magazines.  Neither do they have the prison space to lock up 100,000 otherwise law abiding citizens.  Civil disobedience to an unjust law can be a powerful tool.

Remember jury nullification as well.  Go to jury duty,  if the law is unjust you are not required to convict them (just dont let the attorney or judge know otherwise they will kick you off the jury).  You have the same power as a presidential pardon when on a jury where all votes are needed to convict.

I would wager there is a law out there to convict every single one of us of something.  If we are all scared to break the law, we cower like a conquered people.

Possession of the parts would also be illegal. This also effects the Airsoft market as well as a lot the parts thy use are real or would fit real firearms.

Because the way the law is written, nearly every semiautomrifle with a magazine is banned. B cause of the registration information they know where they are.

People like me will be at the top of the visitation list, then the people with the most guns, then everyone else.

Good thing most people will have shipped their guns out of state prior to the effective date of the ban. Not our fault if their "registration" data doesn't account for such actions. According to that database a lot of dead people still own firearms. Go confiscate those too.
