This weekend we'll be looking for volunteers to pass out flyers, have people sign testimony, and some other stuff.  Also to visit gun stores to encourage them to help.

HIFICO is planning a capitol event tentatively of February 21st with some display tables from a few clubs.  Also want a small group of people 15 to 30 for a small rally and visit reps offices as a group.

As a grassroots activim organization, HIFICO encourages the community to plan their own projects.  Hifico will help with guidance and some resources.

Thank you for everything you guys are doing.

Idea/Question?
Has anyone considered contacting the folks who are in active federal lawsuits about the judicial side of these bills? Maybe see if we can be directed to a knowledgeable lawyer? I doubt our political chances in this lock step liberal state, we may need to raise money for a federal suit to obtain a federal injunction on 2a grounds. If every person on the forum committed 1 gun's worth of money to hire a civil rights attorney, we might have a viable plan B if these bills become law (so we dont all end up felons)

I could be wrong, but until said bill becomes law, there isn't much a lawyer can do but intimidate.

We need more testimony now compared to the bump stock.  The bump bill had about 500 oppose and 40 for, yet it passed.  So unless we come up with way more numbers, IDK if it will stop.  I've already talked to a few who don't own rifles and their mentality was "not my problem".  Well handguns might be next.  Then they said "oh, yeah. yeah"

bumpstock guys, pistol owners...we are all under the umbrella of the Second Amendment. All of us should be united. Let's not get into firearmssexism. i.e. you a "bumpstock guy" "handgun person" we are all non-binary-firearms owners.

This is possible, however it's a last resort thing.  It'll cost a lot of money to hire a lawyer which can be from $10,000 to $500,000 depending on how high it needs to go.  There are a few lawyers that will do it pro bono (free) but they'll pick the cases they think have a good chance of winning and they can only take one or two cases on at a time since it costs them a lot of money to do (travel, court fees, research, etc).  Also court cases can drag out for a long time.  Young (in Young v. HI open carry) filed his lawsuit in 2013 and it'll probably be a few more years to settle.

It's a lot of hard work, but we need to do our best to beat these bills in the legislature.

Need help at Koko Head range this weekend, starting from 9am sat/sun morning and afternoon shifts to collect testimonies on the electronic tablets, handing out flyers, and talking to people about what's going on.  Details to follow.

^^^This.  Also unless every gun owner contributes the cost of a new gun (which most won't do).

Here's the details for this weekends project...

3 shifts at Koko Head Range
Saturday Feb 2nd 9am and 12pm
Sunday Feb 3 9am

Meet at the picnic tables in the grassy field at Koko Head Range.

Bring ear pro and eye pro.  Bring an electronic tablet and laptop computer if you have one so people can submit testimony.  If you don't have one, I have several tablets and a computer that I'll be sharing.

We are looking for about 4 volunteers on each shift will be going around the range to educate people about the various gun bills, issue "citations" to rifle owners, and have them submit testimony for the assault weapon ban bills.  Please review the gun bills at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-rRk6BhJpXk_BwlLctRk2LgZS4RInliAybFr1HYQUC0/edit?usp=sharing and view our video at https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=296883631028771&id=416733928814508.

Please msg me if you are interested with your phone number.

sorry, but 1 typo.  for centerfire rifle with overall length less than 30 inches.

instead of "less that 30 inches".

sorry, and I'm sure you already printed up 30 bazillion of these because there's a lot of closet criminally-inclined law-abiding gun owners, according to Rhoads and Thielen.

zippz, thanks for the props on the mock citation, but your adding the HIFICO emblem was a major improvement! (I had included the HPD patch, which likely would have led to citation-issuing volunteers all being arrested for "impersonating a police officer". ) I take full responsibility for the typo "that" rather than "than"... goes to show even a proofreader can't proofread their own stuff...

I hope you are able to get some video of people being "cited", as I'm sure there will be a few "WTF?!" moments that will be camera worthy...

I also hope you'll be making the HIFICO website testimony submission available to all those folks at the range too.

Great job!  :shaka:

any other gun stores involved? Glad to see Yojng Guns at the meeting last week. I overheard Dale speak about the 1a and 2a. It was refreshing.
