aloha chairs and vice chairs- re:HB1351 & HB1303

Dear Representatives:

As a voter in the State of Hawaii, I voice my strong opposition to HB 1531 and HB 1303.

The Constitution of the United States and The Constitution of the State of Hawaii both contain text confirming the Right to Bear Arms.

Both bills are in direct conflict with the State and US Constitutions.
In your Oath of Office, you swore to uphold these documents.

These bills make criminals of citizens who are using firearms for hunting and recreation and protection of life and property. Actual criminals already ignore the laws on the books, making new laws will not stop them. In addition, semi-auto rifles are involved in much less loss of life/injuries than planes, trains, automobiles, medical accidents, industrial accidents, tools, sporting equipment, alcohol, legal/illegal drugs, etc, etc, etc.

I would like to strongly reiterate my opposition on both HB 1531 and HB 1303.

Respectfully Yours,

macsak

Aloha Hawaii Representatives

As a voter here in Hawaii and concerned about all State and Federal Constitutional Rights and Due Process, I urge you to oppose HB1531 and HB1303. The elimination of entire categories of firearms is on its face discriminatory and is no different than eliminating categories of automobiles based upon their paint scheme and types of tires and wheels on them. These firearms that are proposed to be banned are the most common firearm in use in the United States at this time and are not the prevalent firearm used in most crimes. As has been shown through FBI and other studies, most firearms used in crimes have been obtained illegally to begin with, i.e.: stolen, Black Market, etc.. The only persons affected by these and other firearm restricting laws are law abiding citizens. As such, I urge you to stand by the rights enshrined in our State and Federal Constitutions and oppose these and all other firearm restricting legislation.

SENATE BILL 1334 (companion bill to HB 1303) was assigned to the JDC and PSM committee on the senate side.

I just got off the phone with Senator Nishihara's office as I am a constituent.

Spoke with "Alec" as the Senator was not available and he reiterated to me that "the Senator and his office is aware of the concerns" citing meeting with HiFiCo Zippz and others. Alec cites "wide sweeping bills tend to be problematic".

IF YOU HAVEN'T CALLED, PLEASE KEEP CALLING THESE COMMITTEE MEMBERS.

Emails distributed, contacted shooting buddies to submit via hifico.org.

I re-posted the YG posts on my FB and tagged several free-thinking and pro-2a individuals in it...the only reply I got was my old bartending buddy who’s since moved to Las Vegas...uphill battle indeed.

I applaud HiFiCo's efforts.
None of the people listed are my legislature critters,
so I may as well be talking to a rock as talking to a Democrat
heck bent on making me into a criminal.  I will not comply
with the law made by a Democrat party that
has no opposition.  I'm not afraid to go to jail,
I'm not afraid to die.
Molon Labe,  Democrats.
I really don't care about your lives.
Do you get the idea?

Count me in! Been there, done that in Nam. A few more dirt nap candidates is fine by me.... emailed my state rep and senator today. Only one I got a reply from was Ryan Yamane who said it’s doubtful he will support anything that runs contrary to 2A. Hope he keeps his word. As for the rest of the shit lickers..... well my intentions are clear!

Thanks to HIFICO for putting that webpage together.  It makes it so much easier than emailing each rep individually.

***UPDATE AS OF 01/30/2019 - ALL THREE BILLS ARE WITH THEIR RESPECTIVE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEES IN BOTH THE HOUSE AND SENATE TO BE REVIEWED AND CONSIDERED FOR HEARING FIRST***

(would be nice if the Hawaii State Legislature website specified this)

I was able to confirm this while making a second round of calls to Senator Nishihara and Representative Takayama who are chairs of both Public Safety Committees.

Their office staffers are confirming they are indeed familiar with these bills and our concerns thanks to the emails they are receiving on a daily basis. However there are obviously more emails than calls to their offices. So even if you sent and email, please try to make a call as well. Treat it as an opportunity to CALMLY and POLITELY vent. These office staffers are easy to talk to.

Please concentrate your calls and emails to:

SB1334 is with the Senate Public Safety Committee FIRST, so you can target your emails to:
SENATE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY

Chair

Clarence K. Nishihara
Senate District 17
Hawaii State Capitol, Room 214

Senate District 15
Hawaii State Capitol, Room 407
phone: 808-586-8585
fax: 808-586-8588
senwakai@capitol.hawaii.gov

HB1531 and HB1303 are both with the HOUSE Public Safety Committee first and you can target your emails to:
