The hunter's education course is run almost every month but it looks like it's filled up until June. You can always try and go on the first day they are holding the class and get on the waiting list. No guarantee though. You can check out the schedule on the DLNR website.

The L.I.F.E classes cost $120 and are run quite often. I've heard great things about the class. You can go to their website for more information.

Yeah, it kinda sucks getting handguns. First you need to go down to the shop, buy the gun, go get the permit, wait 14 days, go pick up the permit, go get the gun from the store, then go back to HPD to register it. Very long process.

For long guns, you get the permit and it is good for one year and you can purchase long guns on the spot.

For a review of the LIFE course, Antithesis took it and wrote up a review.

Thinking about signing up wit the LIFE class.  Maybe get the wife to join me.  Oh one more question: each permit has to be paid for each gun?

There is nothing to pay for when getting a permit, except for the first time you go and you need to pay for FBI fingerprinting. $19.25 one time only.
