Hawaii resolution to repeal the 2nd
« on: March 06, 2019, 08:07:56 AM »
Our friend Rhoads, et all are at it again to repeal the 2nd... The house did it last year with HR167.

Bunch of feckless idiots with no respect for individual liberties. Who votes for these people? Seriously!? Is the constituency in Hawaii as a whole really that beholden to subservience and only has the inability to stand up for ones self? My god when you look at the rampant problems facing Hawaii, the answers from government are "spend more money" and lie. Pick a subject where they don't. The rail, infrastructure, homelessness, roads, electricity, shipping goods....

Was just chatting with some likeminded folks after a shooting class this past weekend.  Discussion was about that they were all seriously (to varying degrees) looking to relocate to the mainland.  While I had lived in WA state for many years, I haven't seriously thought about moving anywhere else since.  Though recently, I have been throwing that idea around more.  The reason I moved back "home" was for family.  While I still have family here, the biggest reasons for that are no longer with us.  So go to thinking, "what's keeping me here?".  Gradually, having less answers to that. . .

. Who votes for these people? Seriously!?

no one does, voter turnout is a problem, voter apathy is a problem, state of one party is a problem

this is a good summary

You cant move away from this anti-gun push.  Oregon is getting a huge anti-gun push, so is Washington.  Idaho, one of the few free states left, had a huge push of antigun bills this year.  Virginia, also pro-gun had a governor who went from "no new gun control laws" to signing a gun-control law 2 months later.

There will soon be no place to run to.

Yeah.  I have lots of friends still in WA and OR and many are shooters.  Things haven't been going well on that regard.  I have one good shooter friend wants to move to somewhere in Idaho or Montana.  Tempting.

While 2A issues is one thing, there are more than that that drove the feelings.  Economics, work situations, etc.  Most of the folks in this discussion were semi-retired or nearing retirement.  I'm neither. . .

I have family in VA.  Maybe an hour outside DC.  I don't think I could handle the temp swings from winter to summer there.  I also have close friends in AZ and TX.  That would be tempting as well.

As soon as they finish pushing the Popular Vote instead of the Electoral College its over. Its gaining momentum through the liberal states as they lose the fly-over ones. It's already law here in Hawaii (which is why they post the results for here before the election even starts) and several others (which are Democrat run). The people who are pushing this thing are very shrewd and the population is being stupid and misled. There was a reason our founders put in the electoral college. they didn't want the minority of land area but majority of citizens pushing the agenda for the entire country. The map on Metrocom shows LA county had the highest rate of HRC voters across the country.The only change I could agree with would be like Maine and Nebraska who split their EC votes along the voting lines of how their state voted. If it's a 50/50 split, half the EC votes to Candidate A, half to B. That's about the most fair to the constituents as I could see.

Even 2008 when BO won, most states and counties were red, but the liberal run states had the popular and the electoral college too.

and........all the reason i'm outta here come june or july. i've lived here all my life and i must say the last 10 years has changed my mind about staying here. rail, homeless situation, taxes, antigun initiatives, traffic, government waste, cost of living, etc. i just can't see my kids having quality of life here, too. we'll soon be at $1 mil. med. priced homes and it'll be on a postage stamp sized lot and 1200 sf house. i'll take my chances elsewhere.

Looked at in economic/cost-of-living terms alone, living here is stupid.

If there are no other compelling reasons to stay, you're just spinning your wheels, and your children will be too.

I hate to see Second Amendment-protected natural rights supporters leave, but it's totally logical to do so.  :shaka:

You can run but you can't hide.  Freedom isn't free, and it'll catch up soon.  They are on the offensive BIG TIME, many are awoke now, and they feel their power being pulled from their clutches.

Every RIGHT enumerated in the Constitution is an INDIVIDUAL RIGHT.  Not given to the people and allowed by the government, but given by the creator, a natural RIGHT, NOT ELIGIBLE for retraction by power hungry politicians!

Yeah but they see themselves as above Man and God now. We are but just a nuisance to them. To be told what, where, when and how to do things. Never to think for ones self, much less to defend ones self against the crown.

While every law and regulation they put in place is repugnant and on its face unconstitutional, these a$$hats in government will continue until we the people stop them. And that won't happen in our lifetime .

"In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship.”

The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."

Where do you think we are now? Somewhere between complacency and dependency. depending on your point of view. Our founders were great courage

just sent to SChang:
my name is XXX XXX, and I live in XXX, and am a XXX in XXX. Senator Chang, the last time you were canvassing at my house, I believe it was for your last election, I told you I was never going to vote for you because you do not support the Second Amendment. you immediately tried to placate me by saying the normal things anti-gunners say, "I support the Second Amendment" "I support the troops" and "I go to the range sometimes with my friends". I told you that it was obvious that you have no understanding of the Second Amendment and firearms because of the city council resolution that you introduced trying to ban "assault magazines" (a term that does not exist, and was invented by anti-gun groups to try and scare the public). and I invited you to the range to attend an event I had later in the month to introduce new shooters to the range. you asked me to email details, which I did, and you did not respond to my email nor did you show up for the event.
fast forward to this week, and I see you were a primary sponsor of SCR42, a resolution asking congress to repeal the Second Amendment. I fail to see how this shows your claimed support of the Second Amendment. I guess I expect more from my elected officials, and have them at least be able to be truthful to my face. at least I know now that you are more willing to parrot stances from anti-gun groups than respect the US Constitution.
so I guess I should be thankful for you finally telling the truth and showing your true colors. I realize my views will have no effect on you since I told you years ago I would never vote for you, but I feel I should make you aware of how some of your constituents feel.

here's a link from a Punahou student that took a gun safety course this year:
https://www.civilbeat.org/2019/03/lets-get-real-about-responsible-gun-owners/
her conclusion, in case you don't want to read the whole thing:
"Don’t like guns? That’s fair enough and there is no judgment in that. Those who do not want to own a gun or shoot should not have to.
But let’s stop depicting those who are actually knowledgeable about firearms and who emphasize safety as being evil people who are out to harm children. And let’s not forget that the Second Amendment is a part of the Constitution of this country. While being a constitutional amendment doesn’t prevent it from being legislated against, it does however mean that it ought to be protected.
I’d even offer a useful suggestion. If you would like to pursue anti-gun legislation, you have the right to. The beauty of the republic that we live in allows us those kinds of freedoms.
But it may be helpful to do some homework and get a better understanding of firearms. It might even be worth signing up for a Lessons in Firearms Education course some weekend."
LIFE offers any politician a free safety course, I can put you in touch with them if you are interested

Ching "i support the 2a".

Like hitler saying "i support juden"

Was watching schindlers list. 1st jews forced to register themselves (1936)

Then forced to move into cramp housing, homes taken away and posessions (1939)

Then forced into camps (1940) for extermination and hard labor

Everything began with registration...

If guns became illegal here and we were required to turn them in, I am sure we would all comply because we are all law abiding people.  Actually, I would immediately book a flight to NV with my guns and leave them at my daughter's house.  I would then return to Hawaii only to pack up what I need, sell the rest of what I own and move.  If gun confiscation became a reality on the mainland, LE would NOT enforce the law in many areas.  In others there would be wide spread civil war.  At that point the US government would collapse and anarchy would result.
But my personal belief is that Congress will not have the votes to repeal the 2nd Amendment, at least in my lifetime.  It is just too difficult a procedure to repeal any amendment.

Just want to put this out there, as due to life, I am on and off able to do leg work on these issues.

I think Hawaii is ripe for change.  With this years legislative session's massive overreach in MANY topics, which directly affect every person in this state, (gun control, taxes, rail, crime, bans on everything from straws to cigarettes, sanctuary state, etc.)  many people are very pissed off at this government.  I think we aught to be going on a major offensive and use this perfect storm to effect change.

21st century, use 21st century tactics....    every person that has social media PUSH HARD to get people to vote, AND emphasize that any incumbent that comes up for election SHOULD NOT be voted for.  It doesn't matter if the only other choice is the same blah blah blah,     What IS important is that they realize that THEY ARE NOT UNTOUCHABLE!

When the incumbent is unseated, we should put forth a massive organized effort to inform the new elected official, by calls, emails, and petition, that they are only in office because they are a replacement for the previous seat, by the mere fact that the person they are replacing REFUSED TO FOLLOW THEIR SWORN OATH to uphold the constitution of HAWAII and THE UNITED STATES, specifically the 1st and 2nd amendments.

i wonder if there's a strategy here.  Hawaii, as usual leads the way in the Parade of Stupids, and hopes that NYC, Massachussetts, Chicago, Connecticut, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, NJ (did I miss anybody, don't want anybody to feel left out), that these fellow birds-of-a-feather all chime in.

After they do away with the 2nd Amendment, they might as well do away with the 5th Amendment, Due Process.  Probably a few other amendments along the way.  Eventually they'll get to the 1st Amendment if they can ever get Jim Acosta to shut up.  and so it goes.  Are they thinking, "Let's get the party started!"

to the point where illegal aliens will have more protections than American citizens, or, are we there already?

or am I overthinking this?
