"If someone is in your home and they are robbing your house they obviously knew you were home so they are professional," said self-defense expert Egan Inoue.

Inoue says in a situation like this it's better to let criminals steal what they want and let them go. Inoue says if an intruder is in your home, do not confront the person.

"If you start screaming right away and this person is just trying to steal and that's all his objective is, but you start screaming making a lot of noise and this person might turn around and do more than what he wants to do and is going to try to shut you up," said Inoue.

Inoue suggests:
-to stay quiet
-if you have children grab them and leave the house immediately
-if you can't leave, hide and lock the doors.
-call 911 as soon as possible, and
-if the suspect may attack you, Inoue says that's when you should start screaming.

contrary to what experts say and popular opinion about being passive - I think it just encourages crime like this. Be passive victims. Don't resist. Give them what they want. Maybe they'll catch them later

Fixed it for him:

-if the suspect may attack you, Inoue says that's when you should place two to the center of mass.

You're welcome.

Shes a friend of mine. Been reading the comments on her fb, all but 2 are sheep.

Only 2 mentioned to get a gun or thats why they own a gun.

The liberal mentality in hawaii is strong. Many also said to buy a camera. And since we all have the same friends, thats how i know they have the liberal sheep mentality and who they vote for. Criminals love that. What if he wanted more than just her belongings?

Funny how the story does not mention where this occurred. That's one of the 5 w's of basic journalism.

===========
 That's good intel

But I wonder why I had to ask in the first place.
Could it be that HPD doesn't want to alarm area residents to a brazen prowler in the area?
Therefore raising the paranoia level such that Moanalua area residents arm themselves?
If I lived in the area, I would be super pissed if HPD was downplaying the incident to keep people blissfully ignorant.

Only reason why it's even on the news is because she's friends with Sarah Mattison.  So you gotta know someone for HPD/prosecutors to do their job due to being overwhelmed.  Which is totally understandable.  Remember when my car got broken into an my neighbor ID'd the guy sitting inside my car.  Well prosecutor declined to press charges.  So guy got away Scott free.

The LT in charged called me because I knew him and even he didn't have pull with the prosecutors for a simple unauthorized entry to motor vehicle.

Dallas County DA just instituted a policy not to prosecute any property crime having a value of goods less than $750. Talk about euphemisms! "Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot defended his recent decision to stop prosecuting certain quality-of-life crimes over the objections of members of the Dallas City Council's Public Safety and Criminal Justice Committee on Monday. The reforms, Creuzot said, are meant to make Dallas a safer, more equitable city." He also called prosecuting such crimes "criminalizing poverty".

Reminds me of the scene in Annie Hall where Woody Allen's character is visiting (via time warp) his childhood home where his parents are arguing because his mother is upset that their "colored" cleaning woman has been stealing from them. The father's counter argument is "She's a colored  woman. She lives in Harlem. She has a right to steal from us. If not from us, from who?"

Never thought that would be reality, at least at the official government policy level...  :wtf:

I remember seeing on SSH that they either did the same or wanted to do with the $750 thing.

On a side note, over the weekend, 33 shot in Chiraq.  Dallas who has OC and CCW, no one shot over the weekend.

Well, yeah, but the Chicago thing is Trump's fault (as Rahm pointed out), and Dallas, that's an accomplishment of Obama.

People in Chiraq are starting to be awoke.  BLM had the same BS protest that they always have and the mayor showed up.  When another group who was just as big had a protest about the gang violence and black on black killings, the mayor did not show up, neither did anyone from his office.  They were pissed.  Marched and held another protest outside of his office showing their anger toward him.  IIRC this was in 2018.

Here is really how it should be done.  Get a mainland friend to buy a used private sale shotgun
and mail it to you, for ladies a .410 should work. Chop the barrel off to 16 inches.  Don't register it.
If someone breaks in while you are there, kill them.  Make sure they are dead,  cut throat as necessary.
DO NOT call the cops.  Dump the body at the
transfer station.  Clean up the house. Don't tell anybody.
This is fantasy of course, but do you Oahu people ever wonder why our per capita
crime rate is less than yours?
