Talking Mrs. CMO out of a Sub-2K
« on: April 30, 2019, 10:10:50 AM »
She really wants one cause it looks cool.  Told her it's more of a novelty gun.  If we lived in a free state then it would be more useful if SHTF.  But with our laws, not so much.

And she wants to cerakote it.  She doesn't really want to cerakote the 22 she's going to build.

Told her she wouldn't take a HDF carbine class with it either.

The sub2K is a fun one.  I had one in oregon in a Shotlock in the trunk in case I needed backup to my carry pistol.  Plus there is a shop on the big island that would sell you a 30 round glock mag for it because it is not a pistol  ;)
My wife had a glock19 and a Browning BLR.  The Sub2k would be a fine tuperware gun for her to back me up in a home invasion scenario.

My advice?  She should buy two!  One to keep stock and shoot it a lot and one to cerakote purple. . .  ;D

I haven't spent much time shooting the sub2k, but I know many who really like it and find it versatile for a PCC.  I believe most versions that I've seen have been for Glock mags.  I've never really been interested in one.  If I were to get a PCC, I'd likely go with a Colt/AR 9 mm with those Colt steel mags.

Wimmenz want what they want.  They aren't usually logical in their thought process, to trying to rationalize with her is probably like many discussions in the political section.

it's fugly
cerakoating it would be like trying to dress up a reusable shopping bag to make it look like a Fendi or Gucci handbag

If she wants to shoot PCCs in 9mm, his might be an option.

CMMG 9mm upper with your standard AR lower with ARC9-modified PMags. I hope to have mine completed by year’s end.

I have one. Havent shot it in 3+ years if that says anything. The sights, trigger, and build quality kinda suck. The bolt is also huge so there is a lot of reciprocating mass.Gen2 seems to be a little nicer built but still have low height sights and the same trigger. I bought a trigger kit but didnt get around to installing it since i dont care to shoot it unless the silhouette side opens up to pcc's.

Its cool because it folds and fits in some 17" laptop cases. Its also light, low profile, and 'low drag' because of the vertical charging handle. I have it crammed in a pelican 1470 where the muzzle touches the case but a slightly larger pelican 1490 can comfortably fit a sub2k ,glock 17, and probably 5-6 ext mags and a few standard size mags, not including the ones in the magwells.

That trunk mount is awesome.
