latest number says about 1% of the assault rifles they think are out there were turned in.  350ish turned in.

My bet would be 95% of Oahu would comply.
My bet would be 2% of Big island would comply.
My bet would be 0% of Molokai would comply.
My bet would be 90% of Maui would comply.
My bet would be 50% of Kauai  would comply.
But all our guns un-like NZ are registered and
under control of the government.
I'll probably get banned for this comment.

I guess a lot of guns are going to be reported lost or stolen the week before it goes in effect and the long guns purchased before 1994 will be hidden.

Some of them are waiting to see how much the government is going to pay for them.  If they start paying for them to be turned in it will be a lot more.

you've said this at least several dozen times since I've been a moderator, yet I cannot remember ever banning anyone, nor even threatening to do so to anyone
I am not sure why you keep on repeating this...

You need a license for firearm ownership in NZ, so they know who the firearms owners are. At least that’s what my buddy who lives in the North island mentioned. He called it something, but I can’t remember. But basically the local/area police know who owns guns and what kind. Or course assuming in obtained them legally. He did mention that he knew of cases where they were showing up at residences looking:asking for guns.

He recently moved to the North island areas from the Christ Church area. He actually used to live quite close to where they shooting occurred. So as I understand it, his guns aren’t in the North island “local” system. But he is a licensed firearms owner.

No 1a there as well, so folks were having message boards and stuff shut down if they voiced opposition. So of course he was positing on our US based board.

I've seen (my) individual posts removed/deleted (for simply stating a factual opinion, no obscene language, etc.)... perhaps the poster considers "deletion"/"removal" at least partially equivalent to being "banned"?

Victim complex.

Quote
In psychology a person who has a martyr complex, sometimes associated with the term "victim complex",
desires the feeling of being a martyr for their own sake, seeking out suffering or persecution because it
either feeds a psychological need or a desire to avoid responsibility.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Was just chatting with a buddy in NZ. He said the newest thing there is pump action ARs. Something about it being legal and many folks who didn’t turn in their guns now have legal “conversion” that allow them basically keep what they got. 😂
