I'm on island and my guns are on the mainland.  Next weekend though.....

Spending upto 90 minutes driving out to the range then waiting however long for a-holes who take up space talking story and drinking coffee to "finish" is just BS to me. I'm sure these folks are nice people, but squeezing off 1 or 2 rounds every 30 minutes while others want to get in there gets on my nerves.

Can't we start a petition to change the rules around there?  It's a shooting range.  Not set your shit up and sit around and talk story range.  If the range master feels that you aren't necessarily there to shoot, then pack up your gear and go talk story someplace else.  I dunno how good that would be to allow the range master there to use his own personal judgement on allowing you to stay though.

I also heard there was a waiting list yesterday.  Yet on weekdays, they only open half the range?  That' fucking makes no sense.

Rifle side usually has a waiting list even on weekdays.  I hear that guys go down around 9:30 or so.

Plus, it is only open for 3 hours & as Ichigeki pointed out only half the range is open.  ???

Budget cuts.

My excuse for not shooting is work. I work two full time jobs. I can take off when I want but I want to make the green stamps so that I can buy more equipment and supplies to use when I finally do get out to the range.

Unfortunately, I don't feel a petition (addressing bench hogs) would do much. If anything the "powers that be" would see it as a reason to dick with everyone...like charging everyone by the hour.  Back in the day the RSO's would  ask inactive shooters to free up the spot if there were people waiting. Not sure what changed. If anything, I think policy should require people to remain in their own "space". Congregating around 1 or 2 booths is unsafe and usually leaves firearms unattended.

FYI, just got back from the range (SHOOTING) and waited around 15 mins for a bench.  Still had a waiting list at noon, but not as nuts as Sundays.  Lots of open benches at 1:30.

I almost never shoot alone. I usually shoot with at least one friend. If you know me and I'm shooting, you can share a bench with me.
