My Hawaiian friend is in agreement with you. He also mentioned that our state is far from distress and that the TMT would be a good thing for the State. He also mentioned that while culture is important to sustain we need marketable skills for our children.
Interesting as my relatives from Tahiti stopped by this weekend. I didn't realize how socialist Tahiti is and they are heavily dependent on tourism.

On the Governor website, David Ige said the protesters say they will not compromise, so that leaves the state with few options and as governor I have to enforce the law.  After 10 years of legal wrangling, the courts have ruled that the TMT has the legal right to proceed.  So I wonder what that means.  Will he finally order that the road be cleared?  I have my doubts about that, but he may surprise me.

I did not say all. I personally know some up there that are receiving government assistance.  I also realize that some are highly educated, but being highly educated does not necessarily make you a “smart” person.  And I will and have called people of my own race stupid for actions that they have done.  I have done stupid stuff in the past that I wish I hadn't, but this political correctness and racist bullshit makes me sick.  People are afraid to tell it like it is because they might offend someone.  My wife's grandparents were pure Hawaiian and she also thinks the protesters are wrong as do many other Hawaiians.  Polls have shown that the overwhelming majority of Hawaii residents favor building the TMT.  Among native Hawaiians 48% oppose, 44% are in favor and the 8% are either unsure or don't care one way or the other. 

Remember H3?  Mile for mile the most expensive highway ever built?  A lot of that was due to protesters of a certain ethnic group bringing decades of legal challenges concerning their sacred valley.  I'll bet you those same ones are happy to use that highway and enjoy the magnificent views of windward Oahu while driving on it.  A half Hawaiian friend of mine called the ones of his ethnicity stupid a-holes when they were protesting building the first 7-11 in Kaaawa.  He later told me those are the ones he always see there buying Big Gulp, hot dogs, beer, cigarettes and spam musubi.

The poster referred to all the Kanaka lolos on the mauna meaning all the Hawaiians on the mauna are all lolo.  Second, he commented on how all the Kanaka lolos dependence on Section 8 housing and food stamps will greatly affect their long-term ability to maintain their protest, which is incorrect in that there are professional lawyers, doctors, college professors, etc. who have and continue to protest on Mauna Kea that are not affiliated with the ilk of OHA and others who just want to make a name for themselves.

The August 21 report said Hawai’i County spend $3.3 million on costs from July 15 to August 19.  The Att Gen Office said they spend $600,000 and another agency $173,000.  That is $4 million already up to August 19.   No wonder they cannot fix the few potholes on Hwy 11 between Volcano and Hilo.
