Buying long gun at outer islands

Hey everyone  just wondering what the process is if I was to purchase long guns from another island , I have long gun permit current and if I go to one purchase from big island(I’m from Oahu btw) do I  need to ship ffl  or I can purchase and fly back home with it ? Thank you

FFLs are only required for intrastate transactions or to receive firearms shipped via USPS or commercial carriers.

If you are traveling to the seller's island, you can show your valid Honolulu County permit and fly home with it in an airline approved case.  Just register the long gun at HPD within the required 5 days.

If you are doing the deal long distance and shipping the gun to Oahu, using an FFL is required with a few exceptions.  You're not allowed to have firearms mailed directly to you if you're not the current owner and are not an FFL holder.

Those are my understandings.  I'm sure others will correct me if I've made an error.
