Somali-Canadian Goes Back Home - Gets Murdered by Terrorists (Read 1043 times)

In a prophetic story, the same week President Trump admonished anyone who hates America can go back to their countries of origin to show us "how it's done", a journalist from Somalia living in Canada was killed in her homeland.

Quote
Hodan Nalayeh spent the last days of her life doing what she loved most: sharing a side of Somalia rarely
depicted in the West. On Twitter, she posted photos of young boys grinning on the island of Ilisi, fresh fish
and lobsters pulled straight from the Indian Ocean and a colorful sunset from the port city of Kismayo.

“It was an incredible day to witness #Somalia’s beauty,” the Somali-Canadian journalist wrote.

Then, on Friday, al-Shabab militants stormed the Asasey Hotel in Kismayo, killing at least 26 people,
including Nalayeh, 43, and her husband, Farid Jama Suleiman. An additional 56 people were wounded.
It took around 14 hours for Somali security forces to regain control of the hotel, where several tribal elders
and another journalist, Mohamed Sahal Omar, were also killed. At least one American was among the
dead, the State Department confirmed.

Without getting into the obvious arguments of naivety, the takeaway here is how many people living in Western countries often lose sight of the fact that, even with all of our faults, it's dishonest to paint the US (or Canada) using harsh words like "Concentration Camps" and "White Nationalist Racists".  Those rhetorical lies lead to brainwashing the young into believing their country is not worthy of their respect or loyalty.  And, since many countries don't allow a free press or Internet access, the suppression of truth of how bad foreign countries really are leads to a romanticized version these young people adopt as their reality -- until they go there.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Reminds me of that other couple who went to A-stan to show that it's not dangerous.  Ended up getting beheaded.  IIRC they were Australian.

To be honest, I rather them die like that than have to waste resources/lives of operators to do a rescue mission because it's their fault.
