Aloha...new member here  Just wanted to confirm that the silhouette range will be open for normal business this weekend.  Can anyone verify that?  Planned on taking the kids down for a day of shooting and just heard about the Shooting Sports Fair.  I plan to arrive early due to the special event crowds.

thank you!

Thanks!  I was planning to go down Saturday morning.  Not to change the subject but I noticed your sig line....you know of a good M-1 gunsmith on island?  Want to ensure mine won't fire out of battery.

Went this morning with the wife.  We tried out different calibers, pistols, rifles.  Four hours later when we left, I told her that it was like Disneyland for me.  Some waiting in line but definitely lots of fun!  :D

I left with a slight soreness on my cheeks. I wasn't sure if it was from sunburn or from the big smile on my face all morning.

Thank you organizers for putting this together. I was looking forward to this event and it was worth the wait!

Yes there were 3 22 rifles there. Not that long of a wait either.  The 22 rifle setup at the silhouette range was the cheapest to shoot in the shooting fair.

Is the pricing per shot? What would you suggested is a good amount to bring?

I was with Hawaii Rifle Association all day today. I was on the .22 rifle side. I know for .22, we charged 2 scripts for 10 rounds. The bigger the (price tag on the box of the) caliber, the more scripts were charged. Scripts were $1 each. $2 for ten .22lr sounds like a lot, but you're also shooting someone else's gun, getting to rapid fire, plink at golf balls and soda cans...stuff you can't normally do here.

Anyone who didn't come out today should definitely come out tomorrow! I'd love to meet some of you guys. I'll be with HRA again and I'll be the guy in the dark green Instructor shirt.. (lol.. My name tag will say "Phil")

The pricing varies depending on caliber or which station you go.

The cheapest was the 22 cal at the silhouette range at 1 scrip ($1) for 10 shots. On the main HRA station, it was 2 scrips ($2) for 10 shots.

The shotgun with skeet at the HRA station was 5 scrips for 3 shots (including the skeet).

On the more expensive side, the M1919 browning machine gun which was 15 scrips ($15) for 10 shots. There was a rifle at the rifle range (not sure of the caliber but it was supposedly for big game animals like elephants, etc), it was 5 scrips ($5) for 1 shot!

Between my wife and I, we tried out many different stuff but mostly just the common calibers.  Probably spent around $120-150 or so total in 4 hours.

I might have run into you today as my wife and I spent some time with several trips to the 22 cal HRA station.

Cool! I was the 23 year old guy at the .22 rifles. I wore a desert MARPAT boonie hat half the time. On my name tag, I put "2ahawaii's hnl.flyboy" in small letters under my name. I guess no one noticed that. The .22 side was pretty busy. There was ALWAYS someone in line!

Oh damn. I was volunteering with you. Didn't even see that on your badge. Hint, I was helping with the 22 lr rifles after Jerry left. Haha.

Not sure where I will be tmrw, but I will be somewhere at the HRA tents. Would be great to meet all of you.

I got there at around 945.  Lots of cars but found parking somewhere in the middle pretty much right away.  Not sure how it is Sunday.

Man, I'm glad I finally got to go. I brought the wifey with me, and she had a blast. Thank you to the organizers and the volunteers who put this together and made it a safe place for people to try out different guns and have fun.
