And now a shooting in Dayton Ohio...what the hell?

That's three in the last week.  Two in 24 hours.  Dayton is pretty loose on the firearm laws so this will be used against us.

The question  that needs to be asked is, Was it a soft target like all the other so called mass shootings?

The El Paso murderer has a paragraph in his "manifesto" concerning targets that addresses that very issue (assume most of the others think roughly the same way):

Remember: it is not cowardly to pick low hanging fruit. AKA Don’t attack heavily guarded areas to fulfill
your super soldier COD fantasy. Attack low security targets. Even though you might out gun a security
guard or police man, they likely beat you in armor, training and numbers. Do not throw away your life
on an unnecessarily dangerous target. If a target seems too hot, live to fight another day.

Democrat debates are going on, so adding gas to the 2nd Amendment fight just feeds them.

Still convinced these are connected, organized events.

In this chart of mass shootings by state from 1982 to 2019, it showed Hawai’i had one.  That must have been the Uyesugi Xerox shooting.
In any case, expect a lot of demand of guns being taken from law abiding citizens because they cannot take them from those that don’t obey the law.  Many liberals are blaming Trump.  Poor Donald, gets blamed for everything bad, gets credited for nothing good.

Well, that can't be right. According to that statistical graphic there have been 111 "mass shootings" ("4 or more people killed") in the United States in the past 37 YEARS... while the civilian disarmament advocates all cite 340 mass shootings PER YEAR (which would be 12,580 during that time period... a difference of 113 TIMES as many).

That statistica site won't reveal either "about this statistic" or "source" without giving them money. Pretty much validates Twain's assertion: "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics."

Appears to be a somewhat hard target.  Took place in a nightlife area and police took him down in a minute.  So I assume it's like Waikiki with officers patrolling around.  Also Ohio allows CCW in bars though prohibits carrying while under the influence, though I suppose bars could prohibit carry.  Open carry of handguns and long guns is permitted without a permit.

It's a tragedy that 29 innocent people died in the mass shootings in 24 hours at the hands of 2 deranged individuals.  Lets not lose focus that these 2 people are 100% to blame for those deaths.

These two shootings took place in two of the most gun friendliest states.  The Walmart appears to allow CCW and the Ohio incident took place on the street.  Myself and I'm sure many others are hoping that a CCW holder would've come to the rescue but they didn't.  These incidents happen quickly and perhaps a CCW holder doesn't have time to assess the situation or faces overwhelming firepower.  I wouldn't confront a madman with a AR15 or AK47 with my Glock 43 unless I had perfect positioning/backup or knew 100% that I was going to die.

All of these shooters tend to be outcasts or extremist which is a problem with our changing society.  Perhaps people don't learn how to deal with problems growing up.  Or it's easier for society to cast someone out instead of dealing with their problems and giving them someone to talk to.  Also people and the media, on both sides, tends to focus on extreme things that get attention instead of putting things into perspective or telling the whole story.  This seems to make matters worse and some people feed off of it in bad ways.

Read both the sister and her boyfriend killed. What are the odds of that happening due to random chance? The couple "just happened" to be where he decided to commit mass murder? Incest gone bad? Boyfriend of some "wrong" category, like race?

I think we spend too much effort assigning logical, rational reasoning to the acts of people that are just irrational and insane.

We should be looking into what caused their thought processes to be so abnormal that they committed mass murder.  Their stated reasons are almost never the actual reasons (e.g. "the neighbor's dog ordered me to kill").

Mental illness caused by physical or emotional defect, illness intensified by psychotropic drugs, genetic predisposition to sociopathic/psychopathic behavior, ....  those are causes.  Having access to firearms is not a cause, but a contributing factor.  Removing a factor doesn't mitigate the cause.  A determined killer finds a way no matter what.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Reports are that his sister was a "Coal burner".
Shooter was a registered Democrat.
Guess he didn't like her boyfriends.

looks like an SBR was used
I hadn't read that.  I did read it was an AR platform.
All I can say is we are lucky most these shooters aren't
military trained or do those fancy civilian SD courses.

Videos, pics, and description of the incident.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sf3XrWxI3T8?t=4123

Looks like there were a lot of police officers in the area, with some responding with shotguns and rifles.  Quick response and they rushed onto the scene.  Good job by the police to take out the gunman.  The gunman was taken down as he was enteingr a building where people ran into.  Death count would've been much higher if he got into the building.

This is a scary scenario with his rifle, drum mag, and body armor.  I believe he had hearing protection on too which showed it was planned well and he has some training with firearms.  Doesn't appear to have received tactical training or else this could've gone on much longer.
