It's true, once homeless, the body increases efficiency and lose the need to defecate.

The majority of homeless in Hawaii is the working homeless, normal people with jobs that just can't afford a place to stay.  They sleep in their cars, shelters or jump between friends and relatives homes when they can.  You don't notice them because they go to work and look normal, not roaming the streets in rags.  Homelessness is usually temporary for them, maybe a few years at most till they find a better job or have money saved up.

I know a few people that were working homeless and they are doing well now.

That may be so in Honolulu, sure as heck not on the west side of the BI.
