I like Jolly Rogers and Kenny's Burgerhouse. The .$59 teri burgers were also awesome and cheap
After that I'd go to Microworlds to play Ikari Warriors and some pool.

Ritchie’s boneless chicken and bento are good, but they they are popular for the amount they give and prices. Or at least they were when I used to go there (my grandma lives right near there).

Meg’s is good too. I used to like their turkey and stuffing plate. Good daily specials.

Not plate lunch, but I like Bob’s BBQ burgers.

Alicia’s is ok for plate lunches, but mostly went there for pupu stuff.

There’s a really good hole in the wall across from where Wayne T and Red Letter are. I don’t even know the name.

LL’s is ok.

What about the various okazuyas?

What about the various okazuyas?

That's a dying culture. The parents/grandparents started the company, the kids don't want to do it.  Too much labor.  Pearl City Foodland has Okazuya stuff.  Not sure how good it is.

I haven’t been there in years, but yeah, good stuff. Gulick and a couple others in Kalihi. One starts with M, but name isn’t coming to me right now.

I really like the smaller mom & pop types. Yes, understand that they are slowly dying out. One of my favs was Caryn’s on Young St. They didn’t go thru a generation transition while I was going, but sadly I think they are done. Toshi’s was another in Kalihi, right by Ritchie’s. My grandma used to be good friends with the “grandma” there. I used (when I was like 10) to ask my grandma why she didn’t start one of her own and learned how hard they work.

Kabuki in PC is a fav for me. Not quite the mom & pop, but I like their food.

Okazuya's are perfect for the range because they open early, I can grab food before going to the range.  You know cause of that places to keep law.  So grab food early, then go home and grab guns. Then go range.

I'm surprised nobody said Young's Fish Market's Hawaiian plate yet. Anyone go to Ethel's at the end of Kalihi Street? I don't know if they are still there.

I like their Hawaiian plate. I rarely go there tho. My old college roommate’s family owns though. 🤔

I also grew up having Helena’s Hawaiian food. But that was the old HNL Ford location. The food still good at the current location, but parking sucks and that place is always packed.

haven't been to Fukuya in a couple years bc my work schedule changed and I have to get up earlier now
but today had major traffic coming from east side so I took the offramp by humane society and went to Fukuya.
glad I did.  food is great.  I have to get up earlier so I can get there more often.   :shaka:

Almost forgot Alicia's Market.
Famous for their roast beef and poke bowls.
Kanak attack guaranteed.

A favorite down waiakamilo road is Nippon Bento.
Pre-made bento lunches are my favorite. They just throw any kind stuff inside.
I had grilled salmon with mochiko chicken combo yesterday.
