Trouble getting a hold of Al Mongeon (Ready on the Right)
« on: June 02, 2012, 02:49:47 PM »
Anyone have an idea how Al is doing? I had a lower sent to him last week and I've been calling every day for last 4-5 days and there's been no answer. Sounds like phone disconnected or something.

Dunno but that last time I did business with him this past April, his days of operation were Wed, Thurs, Friday. Not sure if he works on Saturdays. He didn't answer the phone on his off days.

I also tried calling him today, same thing you decribed "phone disconnected or something". I last saw him was on Wed. 5-30-12 to pick-up a couple handguns. Everything was fine then, his phone was ringing nonstop while we were doing the paperwork. I hope everything is well w/ Al.

Yeah, I called during those days.. I wish he had voice mail at least so I could leave a message!

Might have to swing by next week if I can't get him on the phone.

Al's well known and respected, doubt anythings amiss with your stuff. We had an island wide power flicker Thursday, knocked out all the (voip) phones at my plant. Could be the same thing?

I saw him last week and it seemed like he was having problems with his back.

Same here. Handgun was delivered on the 23rd. No response to emails and phone is disconnected. Let me know what happens when you stop by. Thanks.

Update: just got an email this afternoon  (June 3)

I went to see Al two days ago.

He is just fine.

His "Roadrunner" bundle (phone & cable) was completely out for 4 days.

Everything is running well now.

I was wondering how the whole process works with buying something online (like through Gun Broker) and shipping it here and registering it, specifically a handgun.  I'm thinking about buying a 1911 on Gun Broker and using Al for the FFL transfer, but not sure how it all works.  I tried calling him today but no one picked up.  Could someone clue me in on the steps?  Since this would be my first time, I just want to be sure everything goes smoothly.

Mahalos in advance!

Buy the item. Find an FFL. Have the FFL facx or email thier FFL to the seller.   Then item get shipped to the FFL. If its a pistol you have to get the serial and info from the FFL you purchased it from.  Then go to hpd and apply for the permit. Wait 14 days then go pick up the permit and pick up your gun from the FFL then go back to HPD and register it. Rifle is easier. Just go to the FFL and pick up your rifle and then to HPD to register it

Thanks for the info.  One clarification...So HPD will accept information from an out of State vender?  I was thinking the gun needs to be delivered to Al first, then I would need to do paperwork with him (just like filling out the forms at a local shop) , then take that paperwork to HPD for permit application... then so forth...

Just picked up a pistol from Al last week.  Didn't need any invoice/paperwork from him for my permit to acquire from HPD.  I went into HPD with the make, model, caliber, barrel length, and serial number on a sticky note and had no issues.

Another side note on Al.  He's very busy as he is processing  a couple of commemorative special orders so he's pretty maxed out on volume right now.  That, along with his Time Warner Cable issues, probably explains the trouble getting through.

I called several times and no answer. He's probably very busy guy. Went through another FFL (Kaneohe Gun).

Does anyone know of another reliable FFL that does transfers?  I would like to use Al but I'm afraid if and when I can get a hold of him, the gun I want may be sold out.   Lol.  I don't doubt his abilities, just can't get a hold of him.  I'm willing to pay a little more.  Has anyone tried Higher Caliber in Waipahu?  They're listed on Gun Broker.

Thanks!

It's all good.  I was able to get in touch with Al this afternoon and set eveything up for a purchase and transfer.  He is definitely awesome to deal with.  Thanks again for your guys help!
