What weaponlight are you running?
« on: June 05, 2012, 05:20:35 PM »
Aloha gang, getting my choices narrowed down on a good weapon light for a few of my newer long guns. I think I'll be going with a Surefire Fury on my M6A2 and a Mini-Scout on my AK.

I was wondering what y'all are running and has it served it's intended purpose with it's features/function?

For my handguns it's SF X300.  Airsoft gun uses my old TLR-2 as I don't care if it gets shot out.

I'm thinking about picking up the new SF X300's this year as they bump up the output significantly to 500 candela.

Problem with the Fury is that two stage switch.  I would need to be able to choose which output I want to run if I was to use that on a rifle.  The upside is the Fury has a great amount of output.

GZire - I agree. Wish that Fury came with a single setting. That's the only thing that's stopped me from buying and mounting already.

rswarrior - Got any pics brutha?

X300 at 12 o'clock on my LMT MRP. It was a PITA to out on and I'm not looking forward to taking it off when I need to replace the batteries. I also have an X300 for my Glock 17.

I also have a Surefire G2X for another AR with a VLTOR Scout mount. I am planning on ordering a Haley Thorntail mount for the G2X as well.

TLR-1
I like that it is so easy to take on/off if you want to switch to rifle or pistol rail.

Yes I dig the TLR's. I'm actually running an M6X (Similar) on my G23.

Anyone running Elzetta lights? I was looking at the 3C with crenellated bezel and pressure switch as well.....

As soon as the new X300 comes out I'm buying one.  I think it's a good choice for a rifle, but need to check the spread of the beam at distance.  With a handgun that new light might be too much output.  I'm thinking you can blind yourself with splashback of the light off close objects with 500 candela.

So the new X300 will be 500 lumens/candela?  I think the current X300 at 170 lumens is bright enough for when I'm in my condo.  I have other 200 lumen Surefire handheld lights and I agree that 500 lumens may be too bright for indoor use.  I haven't tried the X300 outdoors yet though, but the G2X is great for finding my way around areas of my parents and grandmother's house that don't have good lighting.

Werd. Well if it's a nice focused light and provided I can get at least 2 hours of runtime outta it, I would definitely jump on that as well. 500 is a sick amount of output for a light that size.

Yup the new X300 (Ultra) will be on par with the new Fury light.  I did a night test of the Fury against my E2D LED and the difference is crazy.

Wow!  I've heard of the Fury and I saw them at the gun show in March, but that was inside the Blaisdell and with the lights on.  I can't imagine 500 lumens when 200 is pretty damn bright already.  That would surely be quite blinding.

Take into consideration the fury is not weapon rated so there are reports of the settings from low to high and high to low switching between shots due to recoil. It has something to do with exposed circuitry in the head(the head by the way is not removable on the fury model). That being said I have a fury and it's AWESOME as a handheld light.

Same here. The first thing I did was do a comparison outside at night with my e2dL when I bought it. The TIR lens on the e2dL makes the 200 lumens more of a focused beam. The fury is a little more floody but blew the e2dL away in terms of output. They are my two favorite surefire handhelds.

I definitely will be getting the x300 ultra when it comes out also. wonder what the price is gonna be like?  :shake:

Aloha all,

I have a Surefire M952 for my full length AR & a Inforce WML for my LE6940.   I normally don't "run" them on my rifles on range days, especially the somewhat cumbersome M952.  However, the WML is so compact & unobtrusive I pretty much leave it in place on my 6940.   I really like the WML's switch as well, it's easy to use even without a remote... No wires to route, making for a nice clean install ;)   Only bummer is it's not mega bright at 120 Lumens (think the M952 maybe the same).   Good enough for me though

They have the Haley thorntail mounts in stock at security equipment. I picked up a dropwing yesterday and mounted it on the us palm AK rail top cover with my mini scout. Came out great. Perfect light position, and no need to change your grip to operate the light.
