Just in case somebody didn't know

Is there a dress code? Assuming its everyday local kine casual?
run what ya brung
last year, there were people in regular clothes, some with work clothes, others had 2a type shirts on, a few had their organization's gear on
a group of the pistol match shooters came in their competition shirts
the goal is to show the lawmakers that we are a diverse group with a common goal- to preserve the second amendment
No kits, nvg, or comms. Might intimidate law makers.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy.

Subway sandwiches and Costco pizza for lunch.  Weather looks good, should be a good rally.  We may miss some legislators due to the police officers funeral is on the same morning

Inspector

Sorry everyone, I will not be able to make it tomorrow. I was going to come in the morning and work in the afternoon but I now have a house showing in the morning.

Good luck everyone! Be good and be persuasive.

Just a heads up guys, I found out one of the funerals for one of the officers who was killed is being held Thursday morning as well. Of course there is no way anyone could have predicted that when planning this rally bur I fear it may not be looked upon kindly.

Yea it's unfortunate and some people will see it  in a bad way.  I got some strange looks when I passed out rally invitations to the legislators and some wondered if the rally was in response to the shooting.  We didn't invite media to the rally because of the funerals being held and we'll have a moment of silence to recognize the sacrifices made by law enforcement.  We do our best to spread the message that we support the beat cops while opposing the gun control policies at the top.

Dress code is casual.  Wear your HIFICO shirt, 2a related shirts, shooting jersey, hunting vest, whatever to represent.  In good taste of course as this is a peaceful rally and we're building relations with the legislators.

Parking suggestions
Most of the parking around the capitol area will fill up quickly so get there early. Remember to feed the parking meters or it's a $25 ticket. There are other surface metetered stalls in the area like Iolani Palace and on the street, but it's limited to 30 minutes to an hour. I recommend taking the bus, biki bike, and alternative forms of transportation.

State Capitol Underground Garage - Enter the driveway from Punchbowl St across from Queens Hospital. Opens at 6:30am. Quarters only. There is a change machine in the center of the parking lot.

Dept of Health - Surface lot with entrance on Punchbowl Street. Pay with a credit card at the machine.

Kalanimoku Underground Garage - driveway on Punchbowl Street. Coin meters I believe.

Vinyard Garage - I think it's coin meters, not sure.

State Makai Garage - Opens at 7am, get a ticket and pay when you leave.

State Pohukaina Garage - Opens at 7am, get a ticket and pay when you leave.

Aloha Tower - Buy something from the stores and get validation.

one more update, the police procession will pass by at 1PM (for Diamond Head shooting) We will show our support by waiving on Beretania St at that time.

You’ve done a great job organizing this. But don’t think waving (signs or otherwise) at the passing of a solemn procession is a good way of showing respect. If it’s a celebration of life procession, then prob good gesture.

My son just retired....yes, I am old.

Indeed it was a nice but somber day for a rally.
It was unfortunate that it was tempered by the funeral procession.

Big mahalo to zip and london for making it happen.
What, Me Worry?

Good turnout yesterday!  When the sign waving first started, I counted about 80 folks on the curb and a good amount of folks talking, preparing, etc.  More and more folks showed up while I was there.  What did strike me is the number of positive reactions to drivers passing by.  Wish more would come out to events like this one and even more importantly testify, but I was pretty energized by yesterday.

Had to leave earlier than I thought since I had to cover a telcon on short notice.  It was good to see many familiar faces as well as meet many new ones.  Was helping a couple of folks with their signs and was talking story.  One has recently purchased some handguns and long guns and was looking for opportunities to shoot them, in addition to getting involved with HIFICO and other firearms coalition groups.  Was also good to see more of the competition shooters come out.

Great job to HIFICO (London, Zips, Mdot, etc) and the other coalition folks.

You’re 12.  EVERYONE is old compared to you
No one is coming, it’s up to us.

Legislation should never be about depriving law abiding citizens of something, but rather taking those things away from criminals.

    Sorry I couldn’t make it.
Glad to hear turn out was good.

Thanks Zippz and London and we’ll continue our support.

HIFICO. (Good time to post the website for donations so those of us who feel guilty can donate/contribute to the Right. Not right leaning Right, but Right as is written in the Constitution t

Lots of cosponsor signatures for the rifle mag ban which is a good indicator that it will pass.  We need more people to come to the rally to show support or else you'll be getting rid of your mags.

for pictures from the rally- see Hawaii defense foundation on IG and FB
