I don't doubt it's debut.  I just know I'll still want an original because the new one is just going to be called a Python without all the things that made the original a Python.

Colt said they could never make the original Python today with the same features, function and workmanship and it still be cost effective.

That being said, they never said they weren't going to try to introduce another Python line to piggyback on the recent popularity of the name.

I'll be interested to see if it's the same in terms of design, or if it's a "new and improved" Python.

I've read articles saying Colt would have to charge upwards of $4000 to recreate the original :D  oof...

I'm not even sure they still know how to do the Royal Blue finish.  You'd think, as popular as it was/is, they'd offer it on at least their top tier custom models.

Agree. I think the new Python will sell, but I doubt it will be as good as the original. Just think the level of craftsmanship from the past just isn’t feasible for a production gun.

I have the new Colt Cobra and it's a good revolver
I've never shot the original so I cant compare the 2
It shoots well, accurate for a snubnose with gutter rear sight. Trigger pull is smooth but long. If the new python is a continuation of the cobra then I suspect it will be a good revolver. The cobra msrp was 800 but I got it for less on sale. Hopefully the python isn't much more than 1000

1000 sounds like a lot, but I think it would sell pretty well at that price point.

So let us know when you get yours!   :geekdanc:

My guess is that it'll be a 6" version of the King Cobra target model with a bright stainless finish and huge, awful knockoffs of the original target grips.  IDK if they'll be able to pull off the vent rib, I hope so.  At least they know how to polish SS.  Price point?  2K, + or -.  Why not?

I'm not a hater, my first centerfire handgun was a 4" blue python, and I've owned 4 or 5 others but I prefer to shoot Smiths.

I imagine it will be disappointing like most refried nostalgia, but maybe modern manufacturing techniques will give it an edge that the previous versions do not have. Time to let someone else throw their money around.
I’m becoming clinically undepressed and thinking about beginning it all.

They're are people who know the process but they don't work for Colt anymore, when Smallarmssolutions covers Colt's history you see it's a real shit show recently.

I assumed the finishing process was a thing of the past for whatever reason, or else they'd still offer it -- at least at some premium cost.

Since they haven't, it stands to reason they likely can't.

Maybe they can get Ben Affleck to "reverse engineer" it?    :geekdanc:

Smart move by Colt to get out of the ar civilian market
I wont buy their overpriced AR's but I will buy their overpriced revolvers
Everybody makes an AR but only Colt makes the Python

Yup, I'm gonna get one!!!  :geekdanc:
