Like Duarte does.  My friend who has a gf that's in a village that heavily went after the drug dealers said that he cleaned up that village big time.  Everyone who lives there all praise Duarte for doing what needed to be done and not afraid of bad PC.  Of course the drug dealers are not happy.

Hawaii should adopt stiffer penalties for property crime.

Not exactly apples vs apples, but maybe this has something to do with why Japan crime rate is very low.

There is a lot more vigilante sentiment out there than previous years. I heard in passing someone mention that if the cops cant do their job then someone ought to do it for them, and it would not be too difficult since it is an island. That would be a total disaster. Angry mobs are not known for their careful consideration of the facts.

Few years back in Laie, a "guy" was accused of molesting some kids, arrested and released.
Couple days later found him in a stream off of Malaekahana.
Little press and the last I heard of it.
