MAHALO HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Oh ignorant youth, the world is not a joyous place. The time has come for you to dispense with the frivolous pleasures of childhood and get down to honest toil until you are sixty-five. Then and only then can you relax and collect your social security and live happily until the time of your death!

I took a gander outside. I don’t think fireworks prohibition is working.

My pets are taking their cues from me.  They're ignoring the noises since they don't see me reacting.

If I followed my instincts, I'd be out video recording the neighbors and turning their asses into HPD.  There is no rational justification for these artillery rounds they are exploding over our homes.

Instead, I have to stay inside and keep the pets calm.

Last year was so quiet around here. This year was one of the worst I have heard/seen. Fortunately, our cat remained calm throughout the night. The year before last there was a guy renting one of the homes close to me and he was launching some hugely loud sky displays. For the first time we have owned our cat in 10 years she hid under our bed. Someone turned him in to the HOA and forced the owner of the house to kick the tenant out.

I was driving home around midnight last night in the Waipahu area.
It was truly amazing how many huge rockets were going off.
Cars were parked on the freeway for miles as people just stopped to watch the show.
No need go Waikiki to see big displays. The Waipahu display was spectacular

West Side went Off!
Waipahu to Kapolei was Nuts.
We had 360 show. Even Halawa went nuts.

That’s exactly what I told my family.

So much for passing more laws.....

Windward side had 10x as many aerials as last year. Even the 'quieter' neighborhoods had a lot of action. Waimanalo as always looked like it was running anti-aircraft batteries.

Nothing around me in remote area of Puna.  Heard a few muted booms but they sounded like they were over half mile away.
Happily living in Puna

I was Windward side last night too and had more aerials than I recall last year. Lots of bigger display ones too, like pro level shells. Only second year spending NYE that side, but it seemed like a lot more and more houses lighting them up from last year.

I grew up in upper PC and had clear views to wear wide. I remember things being pretty nuts that side.

Welcomed the new year in Hauula. ;D
Reminded me of NYE in Waipahu, except more gun fire.  :shake: :shake: :shake:

Why was that?  Because of your chickens?   ???  ;D

And I've seen more videos of NYE 2019 of the west side and it seems like it was much more "lively" than previous years.  I haven't gone by my dad's house in PC, but back in the day, we used to be able to tell which houses "went off" by how red their driveways and street in front of their houses were.
