Yes, but then it got lowered to 275 million.  They wont disclose the settlement.  I would say nevermind the cash, but force Don Lemon to wear a MAGA hat for 5 shows and 2 days when he leaves his home.  Then we can call it even.

Is $275 just what was pursued for CNN?

I think he lowered it because $800mil is too much.

What I heard;

-- CNN moved to have the case dismissed
-- The judge denied the motion
-- If the case had gone to trial, Sandman's lawyers would have been able to depose employees, subpoena documents (bank records, phone records, emails), and all manner of fact-finding.  That process could have aired a lot of CNN's dirty laundry as well as proven they were malicious in their coverage of the Sandman story -- and many others.

CNN basically knew they would have lost the trial.  Sandman is probably a multi-millionaire.  He now has the resources to go after the other parties, which his lawyers just named this week.

I think before this is over, Sandman will have enough saved to run for President.  Too bad he has to wait another 17 years or so.

So the question  is, if he is a millionaire, does he still have to go to college, or does he have enough to live off the interest doing a job he enjoys.  Like working part time serving ice cream.

Or he can be a real boss, go to the accounting department and pay cash every year for his college while wearing his MAGA hat.  Then titty bar after.

If he's as smart as he appeared in the TV interview, he should invest part of that money in a business and do what he loves to do.

I just hope he doesn't go crazy buying houses and cars, only to be broke in 5 years.

However, given CNN caved while many others are still on the hot seat, it's likely the others will follow CNN's lead and try to settle.  If they go to trial, not only will their biases be on full display hurting what little credibility they still have, but anyone else that falls victim to the fake news will be running to the courthouse to file a law suit to get paid, too.

Finally, these purveyors of propaganda will be held accountable for their irresponsible click-bait stories.

I have a feeling once Trump is done in office, he's going to sue all the fake news agencies.  Would that be allowed, or is there a statute of limitations even if someone is sitting in office and unable to sue?

He has the "public official" thing to overcome first.  Public officials are fair game for the media.  It's kinda what the free press/1A thing is for.

Then he has to prove bias over "bad info".  When they use words like "reportedly" and "according to anonymous sources", the writers can claim the SOURCE was wrong, not the story.

The media makes up so much fake stuff, I'm sure he has a few trump cards up his sleeve (pun intended).

Not only the media, but politicians will also be sued.

Depends on how much the settlement was. Anything less than 25 mil wont hurt them. And even that is a pin prick.

Doing what flap mentioned would hurt them far more.
