I ended up at the silhouette side too. Had a guy with two hand cannons...he let me and my friend touch off a couple rounds. The 500 S&W magnum rattled me >_<

That's probably AKfortyseven on this site.

He's a real cool guy that always invites people to shoot his 500S&W & Desert Eagle 50.

I didn't end up going today.   :(

I've seen that guy "with the two hand cannons" before though.  One time I was shooting in the action bays across the way and I could hear some very loud reports from the silhouette range.  It was so loud at the action bays that I couldn't imagine what it was like to be in the next stall.

That's the guy I was shooting next to the other week probably.

How did your gun function?

I was so excited, I drove straight from X-Ring to Koko Head on Thursday. Functioned flawlessly! Today, some bad rounds wouldn't chamber in my match AR and got stuck too many times. Got tired of pounding the bolt carrier back with a cleaning rod and a stapler for a hammer so I packed that up and left for the silhouette side. My 1911 was being dumb with both the .45 and .22 slides and it got packed away too. :(

I was all ready to go on Sunday and Saturday morning I did something to my back and I was not able to go. Still hurting moderately though not as bad as Saturday. I hate getting old!

That sucks.  I used to battle back pain, well I still do from time to time.  Hope you feel better soon man.  We don't have that many opportunities to shoot here, so missing one day, especially when you were planning to go really sucks.

I found getting and sitting on one of those exercise balls instead of a regular chair eliminated back pain for me, especially if you sit in front of a desk a lot.  A cheap $10-20 ball from Walmart will work.  I got one that lasted 10+ years before it finally gave up. Pop! then I found myself sitting on the floor. :)  There are more durable ones I could have purchased I suppose. Check the max weight rating of the ball before purchasing.

What rounds were you using and what did you switch to?  Steel case or brass and what brand?

For the AR I brought in, just brass Winchester M855. The other AR was using handloaded .223 that I had loaded to use in my bolt action a year ago. I'm not at all surprised they weren't chambering well.

The brass was neck sized only, and crimping wasn't too great. I'll do much better when loading up 77gr SMK HPBT.

Man I got a Shilen barrel for my varmint AR and I had issues chambering cartridges too.  Sucks.
