She should be armed.  It's her place of business so CCW no problem.  Even if her landlord says no, CCW no can see.

For a person such as herself, I think pepper spray would be a better solution.
She would just need to carry it on her person while the shop is open.
Minimal cost and minimal training required.

Suppose she did have a gun and used it.  In this state she would be arrested, her gun confiscated,
and she'd lose several days pay on lawyers and court appearances.
Hawaii Cops are here to enforce the law, not to protect you.
I'd bet she could not get a CCW license from her police chief even after
this assault.  She does have to leave her business to deposit her money.
Will a cop escort her?  No.
I know I'm preaching to the choir here but I'm frustrated  when I read about stuff
like this.

We need more police! That the answer! Mental Illness and violent crime is just apart of the hawaiian style! We all poor and cant afford anything! And every job you need a college degree! SO A LIFE OF CRIME IS EASY! Back in the day of hawaiian kingdom it was a skill to steal from someone! It would show that the person was stupid or naïve that they go there stuff taxed!
Oh ignorant youth, the world is not a joyous place. The time has come for you to dispense with the frivolous pleasures of childhood and get down to honest toil until you are sixty-five. Then and only then can you relax and collect your social security and live happily until the time of your death!

This is somewhat true, but really it has more to do with the usual "no get involved" attitude.
Nothing new or unusual about that.
What is new and unusual is the volume of violent or semi-violent crimes recently.
The proposed gun control measures don't really help this trend.

I know a bar owner who was denied a CCW and she was told to hire an armored car service at 3am to pick up the nights cash income.

Theres a good reason for that because these armored car and armed security officers are retired _____ .
Giving CCW is like weaning people off welfare. Why would govt give up power?

The last time I saw one of these "services" I could have used an illegal gun, walked up, blew his brains
out, took his gun, took the money and walked away, knowing nobody could have identified or stopped me.
Luckily I'm one of the people that  think this is a bad thing.

People are timid and scared to intervene, this is actually a fairly common reaction.
Maybe they were unarmed or afraid of getting sued?

Or armed and afraid of getting sued. This phenomenon exists beyond violent situations though, it has been documented in situations where there is no risk to the bystander.

Not in hawaii. If someone was next door and they leave their place of business, they can become a felon. No customer is armed.

Or u talking about the mainland?

I agree, in this case less than lethal would be a better option

If I owned a small business such as this one, I would be armed and carry a less than lethal option
I used to work in Waianae for 2 years back in early 2000's. I saw that place change. Homeless got way out of control. I saw some crazy stuff out there. But everyplace is getting worse lately.
Everyone in hawaii needs to wise up. Cops cant protect you. We need to take measures to protect ourselves

Quit voting for Democrats.  That is not going to happen,  but the only way you can protect yourself in public
is to become a criminal. So what is the biggest threat?  Cops or fellow Criminals?
In my mind the Cops are the biggest threat.
Full disclosure; My BIL is a Federal cop and I like him.

How many people reading this do you think are now voting for Democrats???
