FFL transfer prices (Read 9654 times)

FFL transfer prices

I’m looking at ordering an AR online, and obviously this means it needs to be shipped to a FFL. J. Hara in Kaimuki is closest to my house and they charge $100. Security equipment doesn’t offer this service. Where are some other options and how much do they charge?

Bushido arms also does transfers for $25ish.

last time I went J Hara was $25, but that was over a year ago

OGC is $40 per firearm.  $25 for active military or law enforcement. 

I'm neither active duty nor retired, but they gave me the discount for showing my DD214 discharge form.  They may have changed that policy and only give the discount to active military now as stated on their website.  Worth asking the question.

You can use their website to "purchase" an FFL transfer, which alerts them of your transfer and emails you a copy of their FFL certificate for forwarding to the seller if needed.

When you use the online check-out, the transfer cost is $0.  You'll actually pay when you pick up the firearm.

Painless process, and can be started online.   :thumbsup: :geekdanc:

$40 barely covers their cost of doing a "no surprises" transfer.  If they have to resolve any issues, they're probably losing money.  $25 is probably below their labor and record-keeping cost.  I've completed several transfers with them.

Once upon a time, an FFL could work out of a home office.  Now, the state requires a separate business address/location for new FFL applicants.

Anyone with a current FFL certificate can have guns legally shipped to them from out of state, no matter where the ship-to location is.

I have a C&R FFL and have received guns shipped directly to my house.

Nice one.  18" rifle length gas with 5r barrel sounds very interesting. 

It's super easy process.  Contact an FFL and let them know you are interested in their help in acquiring a firearm and get their FFL info.  Most recent experience was emailing the vendor with the FFL's contact info (name/company and phone).  In one transaction, I had the FFL email me a copy of their FFL license for forwarding to the vendor (it was their policy).   

And a +1 for Bushido Arms as FFL.  $25 is about the going rate, but I can understand if a shop charges more for the service as it can be a PITA.  As mentioned above, there are many options.  Location relative to where I work and live as well as distance to HPD to register are some of the main factors for me when choosing an FFL.  Also hours that they are available, but that's less of a concern with a long gun.  At least for me since with a handgun, you have multiple trips to HPD.

I just left J. Hara and asked them about having the gun shipped there and the guy said they don’t do it. He said can order from gallery of guns and can pick up from them but otherwise, no deals.

you could go to KMConcepts, pick up an Aero Precision lower, and build your own.   :D

I think I remember JHara telling me they only deal with Davidsons gun gallery now, although I forget their reasoning.  it was a while back

he just said that they don’t have guns shipped there to be picked up, and that can only get a gun if it’s from gallery of guns.

Not sure if you've been there but OGC's Inventory is pretty Impressive, might be worth spinning by and saving on FFL fee's and shipping.
