sup guys
new to the forum and to gun ownership

A friend of mine told me that he heard that if you register more than 1 gun on the same day, you get put on some kind of watch list. Just wondering if this is true or not.

never heard of that.  I've registered 2 handguns every other month over the course of 6 months and back in 2009-2010 and they made a comment about me "being a regular there already" or something like that rofl.  I think it was just they recognize me since i was at their office so much.

I don't think so, maybe more than 10 in a day if you don't have a FFL

Here's a few ways you can get on a watch list

The dealer is required to fill out and fax a multiple handgun purchase form if you buy 2 or more handguns in a 2 week period. They usually fax a copy to ATF and one to PD. I believe this is what is the current sop for a dealer. Of course that is only if you pick both up within the 14 days from the same dealer. I could be wrong but it's been many years since I worked at a certain gun dealer.

Not reported to HPD.

Reported to the ATF is more than 1 gun is purchased within 5 business days.

what is the point of being reported to the ATF?

Part of the original Gun Walker scandal from the Bush Era and the anti-terrorist theory that they cant buy guns in large quantities.....they can go to Mexico and get them without a permit or import license.....AK47 imported from an eastern bloc country in Mexico cost $500 go figure and its full auto also....more than 8k imported last year....

interesting
is there any repercussions if my info is sent to the ATF? will I not be able to buy multiple handguns at the same time in the future? If so, i'll just space out my purchases for now. I'm planning on picking up a 9 and 22

thanks for the info speedtek

Just one more thing to feed the liberals.

"Oh we make the dealers fill out a form if the buy more than 1 !!!"

That really helps catch the bad guys.

As already posted, buying multiple weapons may raise some eyebrows, but registering isn't a problem.
When I moved here I had to register double digit number of weapons in one visit. The guys at HPD didn't blink an eye, but I felt bad for the people behind me wanting to register

Oh yeah, no black SUVs around my house.......yet......

Hahaha.  Ruger SP101 from a retired cop, Glock 19 from X-Ring, and Ruger Single Six & Sig Mosquito from OGC.

I hate getting multiple guns on one registration thingie, so I might register them all on different days instead of all on Monday.

You dont have to do that anymore.

Feds now direct HPD to make separate slips for everysingle firearm

I was told it was because they wanted accurate firearm registration stats.
