Called Keohokalole first thing this morning, got  some woman. Asked if my emails had been received. 'Yes'   Why did I not receive any acknowledgement of the emails I had sent regarding these bills? "Because the bills are too controversial' ??? Asked how Keohokalole voted on these issues 'I'll have to look that up, he voted aye but that doesnt mean it will pass, they have a long way to go."  Why would I not think these bills will pass if my Representative is voting in favor and wont discuss his reasoning with his constituents when they inquire? 'He held a meeting to discuss these issues at Windward Mall food court a few weeks ago' Why did he not notify and invite those who sent emails opposing these bills' *crickets*. 'I will pass your message on to the Senator' Oh? What is my message my message to the Senator? *click .... dial tone*

They are all clowns.

meeting was not "a few weeks ago"
it was a few days ago

There is only a "door" that can be "shut" in their delusional ignoramus unreality.

Yup - but we don't need to feed the trolls on this board any ideas.

Response to my email enquiring why my Senator supports making me a criminal....

"Aloha e -----------,

Mahalo for your email. I appreciate your input and did vote in support of both SB 2519 and SB 2635 on Third Reading in the Senate on March 3.

Although I support the Second Amendment, both of these bills do seem reasonable given the recent murders in Diamond Head and the threat of mass shootings in our community.

Given that there’s already a ban on ammunition magazines for pistols of more than 10 rounds, it makes sense to also apply this provision to rifles in the interest of public safety via SB 2519.

As for SB 2635, requiring proof of a valid gun registration for the purchase of ammunition also is advisable.

Neither of these bills will prevent law-abiding gun owners from continuing to protect themselves and their families, to hunt, and to practice shooting.

I apologize that I have a different opinion, given that you’re my constituent.

Best wishes to you and your ‘ohana.

Me ka ha`aha`a,

Senator Mike Gabbard

Chair, Agriculture and Environment Committee"

MY REPLY...

"Are you kidding?  Recent murders in Diamond Head?  By a INSANE CRIMINAL using ILLEGALLY acquired rifle.

Sources say DIDN'T EVEN USE A MAGAZINE, and you INFRINGE on lawful gun owners LEGAL STANDARD CAPACITY magazines.?

Get a grip bu.

You are done as a politician.

Don't make excuses for TYRANNY.

If you live in Mike Gabbards district, DO NOT EVER VOTE FOR HIM AGAIN.

He is a backstabbing false supporter of the 2nd Amendment, your Rights, you and your family's safety, and a SUPPORTER OF TYRANNY.

I was in Favella's district and voted for him.  Glad I did.  I now live in Gabbard's district,  Hope to get Gabbard fired next....

Well thats even more fucked that he did not notify anyone who had contacted his office in opposition to invite them to attend. Did you attend? If so what did he say? My brother met with him on a completely sepperate issue and said the dude was an empty suit.

I didn't get a response from Senator Gabbard or whoever is in charge of his email account. Not even worth their time.

Another member did and the response was "since we already banned pistol mags, why not rifle".

[Quotes from Gabbard response:]

Although [emphasis added to indicate total bullshit] I support the Second Amendment, both of these bills do seem reasonable given the recent murders in Diamond Head and the threat of mass shootings in our community.

Given that there’s already a ban on ammunition magazines for pistols of more than 10 rounds [emphasis added to indicate bullshit illogic], it makes sense to also apply this provision to rifles in the interest of public safety via SB 2519.

Given the above statements, I have to wonder why in the past Gabbard consented to introduce my suggested bill to repeal the 10 round pistol mag limit and raise it to 17. I'm sure he knew it would never even get a committee hearing (which it never has)... maybe just window dressing to give some credence to his claim that "although I support the Second Amendment..."?

They need to read the facts of studies as opposed to info provided by those who wrote the proposed revisions.

They don't listen to facts, because if they did, we wouldn't be where we are today with all the infringements.  They like to cherry pick and use info that's left out.

Circular logic seems to be very popular among our lawgivers. It is also a major vulnerability. The electorate is sick of them but does not feel like it has a viable alternative, which gives the Capitol Critters a false sense of security. We are behind the rest of the states as usual but change is coming. It is just a matter of how bad things have to get first.

I presume that was sarcasm, because all the "faith" in the world and a dollar won't get you a damned thing unless you happen to be in the dollar store.

Hawaii ignores supreme court decisions and the courts do not have any enforcement authority.  Remember segregation in schools?  The states that denied the supreme court had to have federal government bring in the national guard to escort kids to school.   There is no way the national guard is going to escort me to the gun store in Hawaii not matter what the supreme court says.

What?! You don't think Major Tulsi Gabbard will order her National Guard unit to respond to any and all Second Amendment violations of the Constitutions of the United States and Hawaii?

Oh,  maybe you read her campaign website and saw that she is a total gun confiscation aficionado... or, as she puts it: "sensible precautions" for "responsible, common sense gun safety reform."

She has an F rating from the NRA and a 100% legislative score from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. Yep, she's a real supporter of the Second Amendment.

Sometimes the problem is not the problem, but the way we choose to look at the problem. These guys are not just burning gun owners. We happen to have a high place on their shit list but what about the farmers who just got boned by another year without Kona coffee regulations? Or protections for journalists? Or the ethics commission hiding ethics violations? Or the 2.98 billion dollar budget that hands out even more money to developers?

These guys are not invincible, and Hawaii will not stay solid blue forever. The question is what do we do in the meantime to make sure our voices get heard once the scoundrels get what is coming to them.
