LOCKDOWN

OK, now that fearless leader has "locked down" Oahu (and this probably applies to the neighbor islands as well) what are your thoughts and concerns?

Will HPD suspend permitting and registration?

Will gunshops close?

If panic buying was bad before (rice and toilet paper), what's it like at the stores today?

808 Gun Club posted on their IG that they will remain open because they are essential because they have LE come and buy ammo and parts from them.

The lockdown is different from island to island. Maui's one starts on Wednesday at 12:01am.  Oahu is today at 430pm, Kauai hasn't announced yet.

If you read the PDF version of the official order carefully, you will find many professions that are still allowed to be open for business.

Caldwell was not about to shut down Oahu entirely; money still needs to be generated and taxed to pay for the rail.

I read it and it didn't mention gun stores at all by words "gun stores".  Was there another area that stated "or any other essential"?

Even if gun stores are open and police officers are reporting for duty, they won't view the public's acquisition of firearms as "essential" or "necessary".

For you to get a firearm from a store, you have to make 5 trips in public: Buy firearm, apply for permit, pick up permit, get firearm, register firearm)

Each of those "unnecessary trips" outside of your home can be eliminated by HPD suspending the permit process.

Besides, if we all have to stay home, that'll prevent violence, right?  Nobody will get stressed having to be cooped up with their family for a few weeks!

I read on Brietbart when there is such a high demand that the Background check process has failed.
Hawaii of course doesn't have that problem as they don't approve anything anyway.
We are estimated to be in the top ten states on a gun per person basis.  We have lots of guns
and ammo somewhere.

I have one friend on the BI who has 70 guns, most of his long guns are before the reg requirement.  He only uses about 6 of them on a regular basis but not interested in selling any.

My preferred LGS will be closed indefinitely after the end of business today.  They're wiped out of 5.56, only a few boxes of .223 left.  Had 9mm on the shelf.

I asked but didn't get a definitive answer about all of the gun sales pending HPD permits.
