Like I said a million times I vote on the person I am an independent.  That's fine if trump is 3rd party.  He is not a candidate I approve.  I won't vote for him no matter what party he runs for.

Thank God, your vote doesn't really matter.

How many times do you have to reiterate you will never in a million years vote for Trump?

Yes many republicans in a pre-trump era supported science, or didn't actively attack it.  Didn't try and aggressively block abortion again.  Didn't say stupid shit every single day on twitter.  Didn't create so much division in the world.  I didn't mind president bush (minus the war).  I want the republicans to keep the senate to force bipartisanship and to stop anti 2a laws.  I always like when no party controls everything as I don't 100% agree with either party.  Forcing them to work together I hope to get the good things I like on both sides.

please tell us all how you are going to do this...

After being a registered Republican for many years, then a Democrat for a few, then a Libertarian/Independent for the rest of my years, I finally came to the realization that voting for a candidate that can’t possibly win is throwing away and wasting a vote. I look at it as a cop out as I am not willing to take a stand for a candidate that has a chance to win because I thought both of them were terrible candidates. I just wasted my time and my vote.

And you say you came to this conclusion after an hour?

As everyone here pointed out Biden isnt that great, who do I vote for if I really don't like either?  3rd party candidate at least appears to be far more likable.  Maybe if more and more people come to realize this we wont be stuck between two parties.  We can have many, more independents.  More choice, more freedom. No more shoving everyone into a blue or red meat grinder.

In case you haven't noticed we have been entrenched in a Democratic party for decades here in Hawaii. I've never met you at the Republican HQs and never met you at any type of rally.

I find it quite hypocritical of you to listen to the people in this thread about how bad Biden is but refuse to listen to these same people who are telling you about how great Trumps accomplishments are. Unlike your hypocritical nature, they are telling you the truth. Do you think it is even remotely possible that you are wrong about Trump?

please tell us all how you are going to do this...

You do know how bipartisan works right? If you need both sides to pass a bill then both sides negotiate what they want till a balance is achieved and both sides are consent with the results.

Ok please list the great accomplishments.  I will comment on them all. FYI if you main one is the courts I already commented on that thoroughly.

And you probably never will.  I am not a republican.  I am an Independent.  I attend neither republican or democratic party events.

One perfect example is right here in our State. Do you know why there are so many anti gun bills every year?

You are correct its fucked up now, but hopefully people will start working together again.  One can only hope.

Our state doesn't have bipartisanship.  Its all democrats.  They do what they want.

So if an independent has no chance of winning, wouldn't voting more Republicans into office be making Hawaii more bi-partisan  and "force" the dems to start working in a bi-partisan manner so dems cannot just  "do what they want." ?  ::)

You are correct.  But I vote based on the person I do my best not to not be partisan myself.  I'll admit my ideals and reality tend to clash but if everyone just gives up and picks a side we will never fix this.  I would love Hawaii to be a mix of both parties or even better have independents run.  So far I believe I voted mostly republican but it doesn't mean they automatically get my vote.

that's my point. We haven't had any other party except Democrat for as far as I can remember. Lingle was the closest resemblance to anything bipartisan. Until we can break free of the Dem party we won't see any other party - forget about Independent. I think the first goal is to vote Republican to open the door for other parties. You can think of it as that wedge. I don't see any other party with the clout to break into this Dem stronghold.

Its far easier to convince a democrat to vote independent than to vote for a republican.

you said "Forcing them to work together I hope to get the good things I like on both sides"
how are you going to force them to work together?

Hopes and dreams.

Easy to be an "expert" and know everything when sharing your opinion.  Once one is involved in actually executing, it changes.  At least it changed my perspective.  But, eh, the world still needs "good idea fairies".  Because, I KNOW the world is a good place, and people are good.

If they have to pass a bill to say fund the government.  Both sides have to agree or we get a shutdown.  So hence force them to work together.  IF they want to pass any bills both sides need to agree half way.  Unless they plan on doing nothing for the next 4 years.
