China is one of the most censorious societies on Earth. So what better place
for ­Facebook to recruit social media censors?

There are at least half a dozen “Chinese nationals who are working on censorship,”
a former Facebook insider told me last week. “So at some point, they [Facebook
bosses] thought, ‘Hey, we’re going to get them H-1B visas so they can do this work.’ ”

The insider shared an internal directory of the team that does much of this work.
It’s called Hate-Speech Engineering (George Orwell, call your office), and most of
its members are based at Facebook’s offices in Seattle. Many have Ph.D.s, and their
work is extremely complex, involving machine learning — teaching “computers how
to learn and act without being explicitly programmed,” as the techy website DeepAI.org
puts it.

I've never been there physically but I know people who lived and had a ex she was from there.   

Their censorship is nothing even remotely close to Facebook.  They control what's on the internet.  They have the "Great firewall of China".  They can scrub news from the internet in a matter of hours. They can track everyone.   Most of their news is government news. Written specifically to boost the government.

Don't like Facebook you can go to another site, can't do that in China.  Post something in the usa,  most of the time the worst they can do is remove it.   China tracks you and takes you to jail.

It's a typical retreat tactic.  Blame THE OTHER SIDE of being lemmings for the simple fact that we refuse to accept fake, false, misleading, and biased information as "sources", in the face of which we must either change our minds or be labeled with some political trope.

I'm proud to have ALWAYS -- since high school -- been on the right.  My state of NC was almost all long-time Democrats.  I asked my mother why she registered and voted Democrat, and she said because the Democrats care about poor people and the middle class more than Republicans.  I said, "So, in all the years you've been voting Democrats into office, what have they actually DONE for the poor and middle class?"

A few years later, she, like many others in NC, started voting Republican.

Democrats assume their dependent classes will always vote for them.  No need to live up to their promises.  If they did, what would they have left to promise next election cycle?

Ah yes a  opinion article from a right leading site based on what "people" told them.  Must be true.

I bet if I go back and look, EEF posted your exact words many times, about how he's Libertarian or Independent, how he tries to be objective and take in both sides then decide for himself.

Yet, all you two do is regurgitate the same ideals and talking points the MSM feeds you as if that's the Gospel.

Common sense drives most of my initial opinions, and time usually proves me right.  That gives me confidence that my judgment and reasoning are sound.

You speak from academic, "devil's advocate" points of view, almost exactly like EEF.  You also think posting the exact same opinion over and over somehow makes it more likely to be accepted.  Repetition is a Liberal tactic.  Tell the same lie enough times, it becomes truth.  The MSM learned this.  Hitler's Propagandists coined that saying.

My perspective is broad and backed-up by years of experience.  I realize you are impatient and don't want to wait for that stage of life, but there are no shortcuts.  Life experience offers more education than having a PhD from Harvard.

Ever work for the government or a large corporation?  Most agencies have education requirements in every positions' job description.  Top descriptions often say, "Must have X degree **OR** may substitute Y years of appropriate experience in lieu of degree."

In my IT positions, a BA/BS could be waived for 3-5 years experience, a Master's Degree could be waived for a BA/BS plus 5-10 years, and a PhD waived for a Master's plus 10+ years.

Ever wonder why there are so many companies interested if you interned or co-op'ed with a company in college?  Because real world, hands on experience in a business setting is better than having a degree alone.

Get a grip on your opinions.

OmniGun, for the record, I have a BA degree in Computer Science from 1984, obtained using an AFROTC 4-year full scholarship.  I have some graduate level classes, but separated from the Air Force before getting my MBA.  The university wanted $1,000 per credit hour for out of state tuition.  I was paying in-state at $300 per class ($100/credit hour).  Never went back to finish, because of travel and no real need. 

My salary history tops out at $156,800/year plus benefits and fringe package "perks".

I have a degree,  I do work in that and I not saying experience doesn't matter.  You falsely said degrees don't matter as much as experience.  Just pointed that out.   Also the position I have requires a degree no substitutions.
