My wife is a life long Democrat. She used to vote strictly down party lines. We didn’t discuss politics much because if we disagreed she would start to cry. After we moved to Hawaii she became a non voting person. She worked for a non profit that changed her views on a lot of things because she got a view into how both how federal and Hawaii local governments worked. She lost her job basically because the CEO of the non profit stole a lot of the grant money and donations. So she was quite bitter about that. She worked in the accounting department. Then it dawned on her that so much of government grant money is wasted just running these types of programs even if the CEO did not embezzle. Social programs can be a big waste of our tax dollars. She felt good about working for an org that helped disabled people live on their own with minimal help. But after seeing the wasted money and how poorly all these orgs are run and the government regs they had to jump through she came home one day and admitted that social programs are not doing what the politicians claimed. Then in the last election before this year, Ige approached her company asking for an endorsement and a donation. In exchange they would receive more funding or grants if elected. Guess what? They gave an endorsement and a donation and Ige turned his nose up at them and no extra funding or grants ever came. The money dried up, the CEO got caught and the org was shuttered. She was very unhappy. We discussed the whole situation. Fast forward to moving to AZ and all of the sudden she is watching the news and she starts getting pissed because they are lying about something. Surprised the hell out of me. So with the election brewing she decided to register and vote and get more involved in our little town which is being infiltrated and taken over by progressives. She registered Republican and voted a straight Republican ticket. Blew me away. I had an idea she was a closet conservative but for some reason she thought she had to vote Democrat because her Dad did. It was a feeling thing I believe. Anyway, she still has some Democrat in her and that is fine but now we can discuss politics without her crying if we disagree. I think not watching The View and her look into government waste really opened her eyes.
My wife was pretty apolitical.
She had a CCW permit and voted whatever.
in WA state.
When I retired we retained medical insurance
that wasn't cheap, but was good insurance.
Then came Obamacare and My wife suddenly
really paid attention to
what Democrats do to us.
Her Obamacare medical SUX!
I'm lucky she hasn't destroyed the TV.
given the recent Democrat Crimes.
I try to keep her on NewsMax as her Fox watching
is full of language that matches my and my family's
traditional Military language.
eg Use the F-word as a noun, verb and adjective all in
one sentence.
She was a military wife.
