Aloha 2A Hawaii Ohana,
I just bought a safe.
I want to move it upstairs.
Do you folks have any suggestions?
I’m limited to two teens and an adult (myself) with no hand truck.
Safe is 450 lbs.
looking for all the creative ways and out of the box thinking

Mahalo everyone and stay safe!

Remove the door, which is like 1/3 the weight of the safe.

What kind of stairs
Inside
Outside
Carpet
Wood
Concrete

Go get tow straps and wrap around it from top under bottom then up. Lay scrap carpet or something on stairs. Drag....

If something to anchor to do same with shorter straps but rig a pulley system. More pulleys means less work.

My friend's interior stairs are carpeted.  We used ratchet straps and 2x4s to make skis for the safe and slid the safe up the stairs with 4 people.  The two guys above the safe didn't seem like they were doing much work other then steering and making sure we didn't catch the straps on the edge of the stairs.  The other 2 stupid guys (me) were pushing from the bottom and felt like we did most of the work.  It was a Liberty and he said it was around 400 lbs.  It wasn't bad overall and didn't seem like we'd ever lose it.  I think it being a long straight staircase helped.  Having to turn a corner on a landing would have been harder I think.  I wish we'd have looked if the door came off.  That would have made it a lot easier.

Hire someone. Safest way to go considering what could happen if you lose control of the safe. Money well spent... :D

Rent an appliance hand truck or hire someone like mrgaf said.
Damaging the stairs or someone getting hurt is going to cost more.

Thanks everyone.  We borrowed a hand truck.  I was the guide on top pulling and my (2) boys pushed and lifted.  Took us 7 minutes from the bottom to the top.  Going over every step one by one. The transition in the middle was the toughest part.  I was was sweating and so was my eldest.  My youngest one didn’t even look tired  ;D  All was safe. No pun intended.  The safe, stairs and drywall all good  :shaka:
Thanks again for all the tips!
