Today's mainstream media is the enemy of "THE PEOPLE."
Not necessarily enemies of the Left wing agenda-driven progressives, but to the public at large.
Without a truly honest press that adheres to journalistic principles -- among which should be integrity, personal fact-checking, and balanced, objective reporting, they knowingly or unknowingly do more harm than good.
50 years ago, when asked why focus on journalism as a career, it was to keep the government honest through sunshine and accountability.
Asked today, they say "So I can help change the country/world." Or even, "To become famous."
A free press has protected powers and should never be used to push a political or ideological agenda.
A free press should also report the facts as they have been able to verify them, and not make the story about themselves (Jim Acosta, et al.).
Our press has devolved into a propaganda arm of one party or cause versus the others. That is a danger to our Constitutional Republic, when one side of a story is propped up or ignored to the detriment of the truth.
Having said that, I stopped taking the Pravdatizer after my first free trial subscription ended. The Liberal/Democrat bias and slanted coverage was too much to stomach, even in the early 1990s.
Until the Web started offering coupons online, I'd buy the sale inserts included in the Sunday paper and use the printed section to line my cats' litter boxes. That was worth $1.50 occasionally.
