Prime Sports 1 mile range?!
« on: June 21, 2020, 10:31:20 PM »
I just saw a post from Prime Sports that there will be a 1 mile range here in Hawaii. Anyone have any thoughts on this subject and does anyone know where it is?

Time to break out the big guns!!!

I saw the post and that’s an awesome opportunity to shoot those distances. But that’s a lot of land for the sdz.

Easy peasey....
Lease a 1 mile section of elevated rail track between Waipahu and Kapolei.

Charge a fee to ride the train to set up targets and return to the firing line.

The city derives some income from an otherwise monetary black hole.

We get a long distance range in first class style.

Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

Me: “hey babe wanna take the kids out for a family outing and ride the train?”

Wife: “oh my goodness yes!”

Me: *gets ready

Wife: “wait why are your bringing your guns?”

I actually just switched scopes on my 308 Ruger American Predator to a Vortex Diamondback tactical FFP 6-24x50.  its no Nightforce but i'll give it a try.  and I got some 308 reloads I need to test
if thats not good enuff for 1 mile, i can always drop a 6.5CM upper on my AR308, then get a NF

The SDZ is the ocean.

The SDZ is the ocean.

I'm guessing that you were kidding. . . but if serious, hopefully they documented that properly when applying for the permits.

Puuloa is a "different" case.  I'll have to pull the range cert, but I recall the ocean beyond the backstop wall was an issue on how to handle properly.  Particularly for a new range, as opposed to evaluation of an existing range.

I've shot my Rem 700 a couple of times at SRGC and that was in the 1000-1200 yard range (at least best I can recall).  Shooting at a mile would be very interesting for sure.  A friend's group in AK built a 1000 meter range and I thought that was awesome.  They took over a year getting it permitted and built, but wow is it impressive.
