Do you home carry?

I do, a glock 26. No wife to say I am paranoid and no kids to get a hold of an unlocked loaded gun. Just me and any bad guy that decides to kick in my door when I am at home.

Don't home carry, but I do bring out everything I own when I have to clean one firearm. Up to six now! Will be eight by Christmas.
All I have to do is push six buttons and I'm in my safe where my 9mm and loaded mags live. It's hard to have "toys" accessible around the house when you have a curious 7-year old.

Try stop by late one night and see!

Don't do it. You're likely to catch Tom rubbing one out to an old picture of Margaret Thatcher.

I see you've stopped at night before.

I've thought about it. I'll probably end up doing so in the near future. I just need to get a nice holster

I don't home carry. Except when I feel like doing exercises and drills. Been doing that since I was a kid as part of the basics of owning a particular firearm. Like getting to know how a new car handles. I don't carry otherwise, though. I did think it odd that my roommates did not want a pistol in their room. I mean, why have one if you're just going to have the gun guy in the house have them all in his room? Well, I do keep them all (somewhat) climate controlled so they don't rust...

But also every house in this part of the island is loaded with weapons and ammunition. Lots of hunters out here. I'm ~not~ worried about a break in. Hasn't been one in this neighborhood - ever.

Its also not that big a house. Easy to get to the weapons if needed.

you are most likely to get assaulted when leaving or returning home. people waiting around the corner or in the bushes or whatever until you get your keys out. if they want to take your stuff they usually wait until you are gone. if they want to have some fun then it's a different story.

I read an article somewhere (my memory fails me) that one should also carry at home while reloading and/or working on guns with your back to the door. Apparently it happens often enough while we are busy that a perp decides to try to take advantage and use surprise to their advantage. This was especially true when working in ones garage.

I don't reload and I clean my guns on my kitchen counter and it faces the front door.  So I'm GTG.  I live in a condo, so not much other space to clean my guns.  Living in a condo does afford another level of security as a stranger just can't walk up to my door and knock (or at least easily).  And if I have any visitors, they typically call when they get here since I have to let them in.  I also have a yappy dog in the unit across from me, so I have somewhat of an "alarm".  Haha.

I clean in my living room.  In typical Hawaiian fashion, the only way I can have adequate ventilation is to have the windows and front door open.  So, yes, when I am cleaning, I make sure to have a loaded revolver in arm's reach.  I have a special one for the occasion, one that won't win any beauty awards and I don't care if I get greasy fingerprints on it.  (I also use this revolver when I teach classes, for pretty much the same reason.)

For casual evenings at home, I still prefer a carbine at the ready.

I went to Walmart and got the most sturdy semi-dress belt I could find...works great!

I just acquired a new-ish Ruger SP101. It fits nicely in the pocket, and I have 5 rounds of .38 Spl to take down a threat or, if need be, fight my way to a Glock 19 with 50 rounds of 9mm ready in mags.
