What are your thoughts on Rick Blangiardi? From what i gather the runoff will be between Blangiardi and Amemiya.
I know the Young Guns owners seem not to like him and they say he's anti-2a?

To me
Blangiardi and Amemiya seem like slick politicians fake and full of platitudes. I hate to say I think even Kym Pine would have been a better option than the 2 dummies we're left with.

I mentioned this before, but Rick was my boss for many years. He was a good guy to work for and always treated people fairly.
He was not afraid to yell at people if they screwed up. It was unpleasant to get an angry phone call from him.
Sometimes you gotta kick butts to get results. He was not afraid to fire people for being stupid.
We have a mutual respect for each other, so I voted for him.
I fail to see how Rick is a slick politician since he was never a politician before.

I've also known the owners of Young Guns for many decades, even before the store was opened.
I can tell you that YG used to advertise on his tv channels but haven't done so in decades.

Initially in the mayors race I was leaning toward Blangiardi.  I'm always more interested when new candidates throw their hat into the ring.

Kym Pine is already a seasoned politician but I was willing to give her a chance at the mayors position based solely on what she felt was important at the time.  She doesn't seem to mind bucking the status quo and doggedly would ask the questions no one wants to ask and am not afraid to hold people accountable.

But for now she's out of the picture.  Blangiardi and Amemiya are both new to the game of politics.  In a way it's a good thing and again I am leaning towards Blangiardi.

Mufi should find a quiet place and sit down and reflect on why he did so poorly last night.  He should have known and maybe deep inside he did but his ego wouldn't let him.  He thought he was another Fasi.

It is relieving to know Mufi is done. Some of my faith in the Hawaii electorate has been restored.

I feel the same way.  Not sure how much percent of the vote Mufi got but it was less than 14%.  He mentioned that it seems people of Honolulu wants a fresh new face in the office of Mayor.

Well, there is a reason for that and it's obvious that Mufi's two terms is the reason for his miserable turnout results last night.

I emailed rick asking stance on ccw. He said no.

But its lesser of 2 evils.  Keith was more part of the club than rick imo.

I voted for stonebreaker.

My impression of him is that he's just another "I know what's best for everyone" elitist that is seizing an opportunity.  That said, I've never met him.  So maybe I'll have to give him a closer look over the next few months.

I've often wondered why a person like Rick would use his position on a local TV station to air his opinions on political and social issues.  Now it's clear.  he has had aspirations of running for office for some time, and was using his public podium to improve his name recognition.

I've never trusted anyone who talks with their hands like he does -- as if he's been coached to not look too inanimate while talking in public.  Hillary does the same.  She uses a fist with a clenched thumb, whereas Rick uses the "making a clay urn" technique with both hands.  Either way, it always strikes me as insincere and contrived to make themselves seem more appealing while speaking.

I wonder if anyone will ever complain that his opponents should be given equal time during the News?

No need to for the primary, since he’s ahead.  For the general election, who knows.

Yeah, pretty much.  I wouldn't say I trust either, but while my initial impressions of Blangiardi is that he's just another elitist, my impression of Amemiya is worse.  From what little research I did on him (not much really), he seems like a "safe" public face of some crap (corruption, etc).
