Anybody been to the new "Magnum"
« on: July 11, 2012, 09:45:42 PM »
They have a new website and seem to want to change the public perception of the former owners.  Anybody been there recently?  I wouldn't mind checking out the indoor range again, it's been a while.

I checked it out.  a lot of stuff is marked down.  I posted a more detailed reply in the other thread.  Dont really feel like typing again.  As usual shop around before making your final purchase

Wanted to purchase a handgun it was $100 over MSPR price where other shops were $70 below MSRP. Much cheaper at other shops, imo.

Interesting that the new website still makes reference to Magnum Firearms.  The "Shooting Range" page states that all ammo must be purchased from Magnum Firearms.

Bring it up to them. They probably don't even know it is overpriced.  The new manager never shot a gun till he went into that store -- keep that in mind.

Range fee $15 non-member + $35 for their range ammo (50 rounds .45acp).

Doesn't seem that bad to be able to shoot at what distance you want and not have a 1 shot every three second rule.

Before the transfer, you could expect to pay $2 to $4 more per box than you would buying it elsewhere. I don't know what the mark-up is now. With a range fee of $15, you can expect to pay $20 - $25 for using the range for 100 rounds.  Of course, there's pluses and minuses to using the range. You just have to figure out whether it's worth your while. I have a friend who works in town and who thinks the price is worth it. The drive is 5-10 min away and allows him to shoot 100 - 200 rounds during lunch.

Definitely could believe it.  When I was in there on Tuesday, he poked his head into the showroom to ask if they had any caliber called 5.56.  Guess he didn't know you could use .223.

That said they seem to be doing much better on the customer front.  I was there to return a box of  .308 I picked up on Sunday was turned out to be half empty when I got to the range.  Ended up getting a box of Hornady Match as compensation and they let me keep the original ammo.
