Tricky one. Smoke is everywhere from wildfires and you see a suspicious guy running around with matches in his hands. Does it fit the definition of a life-threatening situation? Really wish we saw the footage just before the encounter.

On another note it looks like there are plenty of arsonists at work in the Western states, like some sort of mass psychosis. I am curious what their political leanings will reflect as they are rounded up.

Says the guy was on her property, don't think it's tricky at all.  Some stranger on you property with matches, fires burning all around, I'd say valid self defense.

Maybe he ran onto her property to warn of the fire?

Maybe he wanted to borrow some marshmallows and wieners?

Maybe he found the matches and held onto them as evidence?

Nah.  Stranger on my property UNDER ALMOST ANY CIRCUMSTANCES gets met with suspicion, not trust.  He's lucky she didn't shoot him and then soak the area in gasoline.   :geekdanc:

We don't know what she saw prior but as Flapp pointed out there are lots of unknowns to us. In a decision to use force the question one will have to address in court is whether the force the person used was reasonable given what they knew at the time.

In the video we lack anything to really show intent. We have some circumstantial evidence which could fit the narrative that he was an arsonist, but it could also fit some other narrative where he was completely innocent.
