So, you are saying that President Trump should not do the job he was elected to do by nominating a SCOTUS candidate? President Obama did it in 2016. But you didn’t provide a link to any post any where showing where you called him and the Democrats out in 2016 for doing exactly what you say President Trump should not do now. HYPOCRITE OFTEN?

You cannot say that both parties are stupid but the president shouldn’t do his job that he was elected to do without being a hypocrite. That is exactly what you are saying.

Yes,  most nominations take deliberation don't recall a nomination ever happening a week after a death.... at this point they just trying to rush someone through because they fear the election.  Idc how you try to justify this one you can only put so much lipstick on the pig.

I do agree with your points but this is political all this is going to do is polarize everyone and potentially open up the excuse for democrats to pack the court next year.  If they just hold off the democrats have no excuse or reason to do that.

Sorry but I don’t think you really understand what is going on. And until you open your mind to what is really happening in this world, no amount of telling you the facts and the truth is going to make you understand reality.

I'm honestly trying to see both sides and pick a middle route of cooperation. We won't get anything done otherwise. Being "right" doesn't mean shit if the other side can do whatever they want with public support because they play emotion better.   It just like natto, you might sing the songs of praise that it tastes good.  But popular opinion is much harder to convince the masses.

If you need to be so specific in your reasoning, I'll admit in this exact specific case you have sound logic. I'm convinced to a point. But if you can't comvince everyone its meaningless it LOOKS bad, smells bad, but might not technically be bad.  The idea is not to piss off masses and democrats.

Deep down I hope even you realize Republicans wanted to block a liberal justice in 2016 and democrats want to block a conservative one now.  The election is in like 2 months. You are just giving free ammo to the democrats to pack the court because Republicans  feel they will lose 2020 elections.

You said that a couple of times already, but uh, what?

Ammo?  Like democrats "need" any reason to push their agenda.

And how could democrats pack the court?

The Democrats have been threatening to pack the courts ever since the Kavanaugh hearings.  That requires the House, Senate and President to agree to do it.

That's the reason GINSBURG herself said in an interview that the number 9 (which the Supreme Court has had for over 150 years now) is working fine.  She believed packing the court is a really bad idea.

Judges were added early in US history as states were added.  The number has been working fine up until now that a LIBERAL LEANING COURT the past 40 years is starting to lean right.  Sounds like a balance to me.  Nothing wrong with that.

Copy all and I get all of that.  Was just trying to make the connection to "because Republicans  feel they will lose 2020 elections".  How does that factor in if "That requires the House, Senate and President to agree to do it" like you said?

The needing House, Senate, and President to do it was my point.  Based on established rules, policy, "president", etc.  But some "feel" that's not the way things should be done.

I think I picked up on it.  :geekdanc:

The Democrats smeared Kavanaugh to stop Trump from getting a confirmation until after the midterms.  Taking over the Senate majority in the midterm election a couple of months later was their only hope for stopping Kavanaugh's confirmation.

The Democrats have enjoyed a Liberal-leaning court for 2-3 generations.  Now that the court is shifting right, they want to do whatever it takes to stop that shift.

The Democrats changed the rules of the Senate to merely require a simple majority vote to stop filibusters in judicial appointments.  McConnell told Harry Reid the Dems would be sorry they did that someday.

The Democrats have had bad timing when it comes to SCOTUS vacancies.  Ginsburg could have retired toward the end of Obama's 2nd term to be treated for her pancreatic cancer.  She believed the polls and thought Hildabeast would be the President.  She held onto dear life for years hoping Trump would be taken out of office so she could have another president fill her seat.  If she'd been more conservative in her decision (pun intended), she would have not taken the chance and retired before 2016.  This appointment now means Trump will have appointed 3 Supreme Court Justices in just one term.  If one believed in fate, or God or luck, one might have the opinion that such a run on nominations was pre-ordained.

The Democrats have been blocking Trump nominees for many more positions than a couple of Supreme Court nominees.  They blocked (and are still blocking) Ambassador appointments and executive cabinet appointments.

That tactic also came back to bite the Dems. Since the start of his presidency, President Donald Trump has appointed at least 216 new federal judges to U.S. federal courts, and it could reach 230 by election day.  Trump has appointed far more federal judges than his predecessors. Data from Heritage.org shows Barack Obama appointed 158 federal judges among 188 nominees, while George W. Bush and Bill Clinton both appointed 203 judges.  When taking office in 2017, the president inherited 108 federal judicial vacancies -- the most of any incoming president since Clinton in 1992.  Given there are 870 seats, Trump will have filled one-fourth of them in less than 4 years.  McConnell used Harry Reid's nuclear option to bypass Democrat obstruction in the Senate, and they have been filling judicial vacancies faster than Hillary Clinton goes through a box a chardonnay!    :geekdanc:

Disqualifying Barrett from being on the Supreme Court because of her Catholic beliefs is 100% Unconstitutional.

You think people like Feinstein give a flying flip about the Constitution?  The LIBERAL dogma lives loudly in her.   She should resign for failing to live up to her oath of office.

Historically, Republicans have seen their greatest successes at the ballot box when they don't try to placate the Leftist/Liberal/Democrat/Socialist side of the aisle.  if we wanted those people's policies and programs, we would have elected them instead.

When the GOP sticks to their principles and act according to what the majority of conservatives support, they tend to enjoy better election results than when they capitulate in the name of cooperation.

We have several branches to create balance in government.  When that balance is upset, the voters tend to correct it.  Same for party control within the branches.  When one party is in power for too long, they get stupid.  Taking their toys away is the best way to fix that.

I wish the politicians could remember how that works long after inauguration.

Based on your comments and arguments, I suspect you have no clue how "Republicans" feel.  The Dems are throwing unprecedented amounts of money at contested districts to try and win both chambers of Congress.  Hillary outspent Trump 2:1 to the tune of $1.5 Billion.  Money for ads doesn't help if the message is nothing better than "Orange Man Bad!"

Ever notice how you rarely hear any platform details from Democrats seeking power?  They hope to tear down the GOP candidates with character flaws and by blaming everything (including the Lindburgh kidnapping, the destruction of the Hindenburg, and JFK's assassination) on them.  The best they have to offer are ambiguous, flowery descriptions of how this effort will fix a problem and that program will increase jobs, income and free shit.  Blah, blah, blah.  They never can offer up details on how it works.  They are only focused on winning -- the details will be worked out after they gain political power.  Most times, the promises never happen.

When one Dem finally does offer up a plan, it's a farfetched concoction of massive spending, massive taxation, and no idea how to execute the plan.  The math never adds up.  Look at ACA.  It was a sick joke when Obama and the Dems in Congress launched it.  But, people who believe the marketing hype refuse to think about the facts.  They simply believe it must be because the Republicans somehow caused it to fail.  That's the Socialist mindset.  Socialism (Communism) can only succeed if there is no opposition to it.  Since there is always opposition (no matter how many times they convene firing squads), they have a built-in excuse as to why their plans continuously fail.

Republicans in some districts might be nervous, but they all understand that an opportunity to appoint a Supreme Court Justice doesn't come along every year.  This appointment will help shape the path of the country for generations.  Plus, if they want to win their races, they need RNC support (aka MONEY).  Too much to lose if they don't support the President's nominee and confirm before the election.

We Didn't Start the Fire is one of those songs I label as "Would have been less liked if not for the music video."

More Fake News about Amy Coney Barrett.  The hit pieces against her are just starting.

https://www.newsweek.com/amy-coney-barrett-people-praise-group-inspired-handmaids-tale-1533293

Before reading the entire article, I suggest reading the last paragraph:

Quote
Correction: This article's headline originally stated that People of Praise inspired 'The Handmaid's Tale'.
The book's author, Margaret Atwood, has never specifically mentioned the group as being the inspiration
for her work. A New Yorker profile of the author from 2017 mentions a newspaper clipping as part of her
research for the book of a different charismatic Catholic group, People of Hope. Newsweek regrets the
error.

 :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

The entirety of the article is captured in the title:

How Charismatic Catholic Groups Like Amy Coney Barrett's
People of Praise Inspired 'The Handmaid's Tale'

They watered it down with "like" after saying it had been the group that inspired the author of the book.

First paragraph:

Quote
Amy Coney Barrett, a favorite to be President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg,
is affiliated with a type of Christian religious group that served as inspiration for Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel,
The Handmaid's Tale.

This is why Trump calls the media out as the enemy of the people.  instead of taking the article down, they added a blurb completely contradicting the theme of the article.  They left it up because they know it'll get clicks and help to smear Trump's nominee -- assuming she's even the one picked.

These kinds of people ARE enemies to the people.  Propaganda without any basis in fact is dangerous to our nation's survival.
