It seems to me we've raised generations of children who are well aware of their rights and freedoms (many of which don't actually exist, like the right to free healthcare and college),
but they skipped the day their teachers taught responsibility.
When I grew up, I had the freedom to use my mom's car whenever I needed as long as I came home in time for her to leave for work, and it had the same amount of gasoline, or more, as when I took it.
If either rule was broken, I lost driving privileges for a length of time.
These are the lessons that create mature, responsible and dependable individuals. Failure invites consequences. Responsible behavior is rewarded with continued liberties.
So simple, yet here we are with Mister "MUH FREEDOMS!!" teaching us how nothing else matters.
