It is pretty obvious a rifle a close range will make a mess in a body.
What does it do at 200 meters?
That is when I'd start shooting at Trespassers in a SHTF situation.
I stay with 6 to 7.62 mm bullets.
Close range is shotgun.
Really close is any pistol,
45 ACP down to .22 cal.

where I live, 200m is at least 5 houses away

Notice the rounds went 5-6 inches before much damage started happening.

I gather that was the problem with even little NVA taking multiple hits and still going, being about that thickness in the torso.
Same with the Afgan jihadis.

Bullet has to hit something solid to transfer energy.

Head shots are your friend.  Use those fancy optics.
