What optic should I put on my AR9 carbine?
« on: September 26, 2020, 08:48:47 AM »
I have a spare Vortex 1-6x OPMOD LVPO and Vortex PST 1-4X LVPO.

I've come to enjoy Holosun features of shake awake and solar power but want at least one Eotech xps3 with G33 magnifier.  My one reservation for an Eotech is the battery life.

I've narrowed my reflex and red dot Holosuns to these 3 models.

The optic will go on a PS-9 16" carbine.

I order moatly everything from opticsplanet, what's wrong with them?

Here's the AR9, opticless with the lvpos that I have.  I do have astigmatism in my right dominant eye.  The Primary Arms Cyclops has been good with a 3x magnifier.  I do have a Scalarworks 1.93 for nod work but I plan to put that on something else.

How was it running a lpvo on an ar9?  Is that a common combo?

EOTech, or Holosun equivalent.

big window, close range use, no long distance, it's a 9mm.

I haven't even thought about a lvpo on it, but just threw on what I had.

Here’s a resource I found when I was researching 9mm PCC

http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/9luger.html

The “gains” of 16” barrel isn’t as much as I thought.  Seems like 100 yards is about where things seem to go downhill, at least for defensive purposes.

That said, I still am very interested in a 9mm PCC. In fact, I have a bunch of mags, but not gun yet. Haha. When I finally get a PCC, it will have a simple red dot. Likely a RMR or similar.

I use a trijicon mro on mine.  I prefer holosuns though on most of my guns.   My current favorite is the 512c GOLD dot.
