Ok, please correct me if I am wrong but this is how I see it as it currently stands:

I want to buy a handgun.  So I go to the gunstore and purchase one.  Then I make an appointment to apply for permit to acquire a firearm, in this case a handgun.  After applying I wait 14 days.  If accepted I go and pick up permit.  I then go back to the store and pick up the gun.  After purchase I have 5 working days to register the handgun.

Now the way I see it, this registration appointments are backed up 90 days.  Not my fault.  I go online and get the EARLIEST registration appointment possible.  When that date comes I take my handgun and go to register it.

Is there really a need to stress out and try to get a canceled registration appointment swapped just to abide by a stupid law that THEY cannot honor?

The way I see it, it's on THEM and they know it but just won't do anything about it, making us feel like we are the ones not complying with the rules.

As long as I made every effort to comply, if my appointment to register is beyond 5 days there is nothing I can do.  I just plan to make a copy of my appointment to show it was the earliest I could get.

Now you go online and hope to get a permit to acquire date, which is right now never based on what we are all seeing. But lets say for arguments sake, you get one 90 days from now, which is December 23 You now have to wait until December for your P2A appointment, wait an additional 14 days (now it's Jan 2021) for the BG check, go back to HPD to get you P2A and now you can go back to the gunstore to pick up your handgun which has been waiting for 4 months. Now you make your appointment to register, because the law is after you have taken possession of the firearm you have to register it.

Oh damn.... I forgot that an appointment for permit to acquire also can be 3 months out.....yeah I can see the frustration and also the bullshit that they are messing with our 2a rights.

I'm a long gun guy.  So currently I just go once a year and re-new my application to acquire permit.  It's good for a year so whenever I see something I like I buy it then make an appointment to register.

Totally forgot it's different and a whole lot of humbug for handgun owners.
