My M44 has finally arrived so I gotta find time to make it to hpd and register it, however I had a few questions since this is my first c&r registration.
I understand I need the following
1. The firearm
2. Signed copy of my c&r paperwork
3.long gun permit
4. Copy of the atf section that states it fits the c&r criteria

Will I need anything else like reciept or proof of shipping or anything like that? Anyone got info and did this before help is appreciated.
Oh and selling it to kk is not a option.  Sorry bud.

I don't know about Honolulu, but in Hilo, all you'd need is the firearm and your long gun permit.

bass monkey, you are correct.  If you tell them "It's a C&R purchase" when you go to the window, they will want a signed copy of your license, and a copy of the page from the BATFE listing proving that the gun is eligible.  Do not sign the license before they ask for it.

As in all things C&R, take an unsigned copy with you, and do not sign it until asked to do so.  There's no reason they should need to see the original, though.

When you mail it out, the companies want a signed copy.  I guess when you sgin the original and make copies it makes it ugly and not so legiable.  I dunno.

Yeah my understanding is that for my C&R I make copies of it sign that copy when I send it out.  My question is, what is their issue I hand them a copy already signed.

Oh hpd? I dunno I'll see if one of the other guys knows the answers. I will just so I run into less trouble. The guys  already don't like me there. Can't wait to see their reaction when I register my gun. Heard others say hpd is not too happy about this "loophole".

I created a "acquisition " form that has the name, address of where/who I got if from with the date received (important ) cuz the same out of state registration time frame applies and they will ask. This form also has my info and 03 ffl number. I give them a signed COPY of my c&r that they usually keep along with the acquisition form.  I bring my brown c&r book and highlight / bookmark the page and hand them the book and point out the listing in the book. They make a copy of the book page that they file with the other paperwork. I also give them my LG permit and ID. Once in a while they ask me for the sellers phone number but I usually don't have it and it wasn't a problem.  Phone number isn't required in your bound book either.
The above has worked for me a BUNCH of times. I also keep a copy of the form below for my records as a back up to my bound book.

U don't want to sign your original.  Even if you made 100 blank copies before signing the original, what are you gonna do when you accidentally run out of blank copies and need that 101st INK signed copy to send? Are you gonna send them your original? No - ur screwed. All you have left are photocopies of your signature.  Leave the original as a unsigned master to copy.  I never had a issue giving HPD a pre-signed copy.  I have had seller request a blue or red ink signed c&r copy to show that the signature isn't a photocopy.

 

I commented recently on the fact that my M-N has two serial numbers, one from the arsenal, and one scratched in by the importer.  Will you at some point add a space for arsenal versus importer serial numbers on your form, or is there a convention for which is valid?  (I bought mine "straight up" with a 4473, not a C&R license.)

The arsenal serial number on a M-N is on the barrel; it doesn't count.  That's why the importer has added a serial number to the receiver.

+1 the importer SN is the one that will go on the registration form. Once the importer puts a new SN on it, that trumps any factory sn. On many of my c&R's the factory sn's aren't even english letters so HPD couldn't type it if they wanted to.
