You may want to ask them just to make sure, but I could have sworn I was told 3dys long time ago.  Made sense at the time because you aren't using ur long gun permit to buy as no one is verifying it before giving u the gun and the use of c&r isn't stated in HRS.

Beats me.  The C&R rules, as you know, require that you submit a signed copy.  The one time I showed up at HPD with a signed copy, they pitched a hissy and threatened to make me return with a blank copy so they could witness me signing it.  I think they didn't because the C&R wasn't the only gun I was registering, and they were already partway into the paperwork for the others when they discovered my "trespass."  Since then, I make a dramatic point of pulling out the blank copy, waving it at them to confirm it is unsigned, and doing my best John Hancock imitation.  I REALLY ought to bring a giant quill pen, but transporting those and keeping them looking nice is such a bother.

Ok finally made it down to register today.
All i needed was
Long gun permit
Firearm
C&R Permit (I had a sgined copy and gave them that.  Afterwards they asked if i wanted it back.  I told them yes.  Then they asked if they could keep the copy for their records, so i let them.  I told them i wont bring copies back with me since you guys will have it on file)

Should be noted that C&R is considered as out of state transfer so it falls under the 3 day registration guidelines.  I asked the bossman about registering it within 3 days and he said its ok, just come down when you can with Aloha.

I went in at about 315 and the line was long.  Had about 6 people in line in front of me.  When i made it to the window had different people working, not the usual buff haole guy.  Another samoan looking guy and a older guy.  When i told them C&R they both were clueless and had to call a older local/filipino guy.  He explained to them the process and what i needed to fill out.  I guess that was their first time hearing about it.  Left there at about 415.  I dunno what the hold up was with processing my paperwork.  When i was waiting though, at around 4 there was no one there, only me in the waiting room.

A lot of people were also interested in checking out my gun.  A few knew what it was and lots of people had questions, so i recommended they pick up their C&R permit and sign up for this site.
