Consumers have a choice. No one is forcing anyone to have any social media account. Unfortunately all the mindless lemmings on FB, Twitter and the like are tying this to a First Amendment issue.
Everyone flocks to these social media websites. If you want to put out a message, then this is where you need to put it.
It IS the 21st century public square, and the left has figured it out. They are censoring any message that does not align with their message.
Facebook pisses me off every time I log in, but weather it, to attempt to get the message out, especially to public pages, such as local "news" outlets. If you let them turn it into a echo chamber, ALL IS LOST.
"he who controls the mob, controls Rome" (fake movie quote, but is a reality)
If these social media outlets are going to be the new public square, then 1A should apply, doesn't matter if a private company owns it. If they are going to censor and control, then they need to be held 100% accountable for what content in on there, including any calls for violence and mayhem from either side.
I look at it like this forum. We control and edit, to the best of our ability, to make sure there is no illegal or destructive content, purely out of responsibility for the furtherance of the 2A cause, as per the goals of 2A Hawaii. We don't claim to be a "public square" in one breath, then censor possible other views on the other.
And there lies that slippery slope, Say, if government starts to heavily regulate, this page and all like it would have to shut down, out of fear for lawsuit. We make ZERO dollars here, we have no means to fight at that point....
