Are you making preparations for the 2020 election aftermath?
« on: October 19, 2020, 11:44:26 AM »
I am making plans are you?
Because I live on the Big island I'm always prepared
for natural disasters.  We get enough of them that
it is foolish not to prepare.
I'm also somewhat prepared for the government caused disasters that
we all get from our Federal, state, and local governments.
This next election has a risk of a new set of disasters.
either way, whoever wins carries a significant risk of a new Vector.
I'll Share one with Y'all and solicit any others.
I'm considering getting a sailboat and doing "shipping" between
Astoria OR and the Big island. If the Greens take over you can't
get more green than a sailboat.

In the western world we fight wars for gain.
Resources or "riches".
Chinese have another factor,
it can be called "face".
The question is, are the Chinese willing
to destroy a vibrant economy just to "save face"?
They have basically just destroyed Hong Kong
to make a point to their people, Jung Wa.
Chinese believe they are the Center of the universe
and their race is supreme. My years of learning Mandarin
taught me a few things about Chinese culture.
Jung Wa.
I believe that if Biden is elected, Taiwan will be attacked
and we will do nothing to interfere.
But I'd bet that Japan will assemble it's nukes, quietly.
They are next.  That Nanking thing and all the other atrocities
have not been forgotten or forgiven.

I agree with everything but if democrats win.  I think if they win China won't go to war. They know democrats will want to protect them for humanity.  While Republicans, Trump in particular might do the hands off approach to save from war and costs.

Wow, pretty much opposite.

China has biden in their back pocket. If he wins, they can have more leeway to do as they please.

Trump wins, they know trump aint afraid to launch strikes. Esp after he just helped Taiwan. Remember how he took out Solemani in Syria?

I’m not sure we could win a war, even a limited one, or even a proxy war against China at this point. Especially being so close to their mainland. I believe if Trump wins, China waits. If Biden wins, Harris will let China do as it pleases. Taiwan is not in NATO so we have no requirement to defend them. It would be in our best interest to do so, but I’m not sure we would win if we did. Let’s face it, our last administration let our military rot away. Even in 4 years I doubt we could bring back what we lost in 8 years. Plus the Chinese have a lot of our technology.

If Trump were to be elected and China did invade Taiwan, I think our carriers and aircraft could do some damage. But I don’t think another country would allow us to have access to their airfields because if we launch strikes on China that country is putting itself into the war against China. I just don’t think there is another country with the balls to allow that to happen. I think we are just too close to China’s mainland to be able to defeat them. If nothing else they could overrun us with numbers.

All of this is my opinion of course and I certainly can be, and probably am wrong. I’m in no way an expert in this field.

I really disagree.  But neither of us can really tell. Only time.   I am waiting for one party to take a stance of we will defend Taiwan at all costs. Don't fuck with them China clear language. Like we have with Japan.

We do have a gray area agreement to help Taiwan.  Depending on the administration they can invoke it to help. Regardless of nato. I belive that counties that have agreements with us like Japan will automatically have to help us in a war effort. Trump is very hands off, look at Armenia and Syria and the middle east. Even India vs China. USA has not intervened.  I think that would continue.  Trump doesn't like war at all.   Democrats are more open to defending helpless countries. This is both good and bad lol.

Make America Great Again.  Never mind trying to clean someone else's yard when we need to clean our own.

If they want to mess with us then that's another story.  We will pound you into the ground then stomp on you just for the heck of it.

This is how I see foreign policy.  I know it's shallow and not as simple but it would've been if some fuckin administrations in the past would have minded their own damn business instead of sticking their damn nose in everyone else's.

This is how I live my life.  You no bodda me, I no bodda you.  You mess with me, pau.  Life gets hard for both of us.

This strategy didn't work that well for the WW2.  China is the new nazi/imperial japan.  They took over hong kong, we ignored.  They take over more countries and grow more powerful.  If we wait too long we can't stop them like before. Imagine if the USA did nothing in Europe till the Nazis had full control.  America is the shining example of capitalism and democracy, we must lead the world and show our power.  Isolationism most of the time never works out.  Not saying we should save the world and go full globalism but there needs to be a balance.

You are wrong in comparing China to Nazi Germany and Imperialistic Japan. To compare the Chinese people to Nazis without understanding their history and culture is very wrong, insulting to Chinese and irresponsible. Hong Kong was not "taken over".

WWII was more complicated than that.

China is the new nazi/imperial japan.
You are totally wrong.  China can't claim that title because that's reserved, for the current US empire.

They took over hong kong, we ignored.
First, Hong Kong has always been part of China.

Second, do we need to mention the illegal annexation of Hawaii?

America is the shining example of capitalism and democracy,
Are we in the 21st century?

The once great American Republic you speak of, has been dead, for many years now.

Words spoken like a true imperialist, as it is very symbolic, to what the ever rapidly declining US empire has become.

I was not comparing their societies or viewpoints but the action of war and taking over others to build a war machine.  Hong Kong was "taken over"  and cracked down on freedoms and forcibly made to conform to Chinese communism.

Hong Kong belonged to china, then was transferred to the British where it got its new identify and culture.  It wasn’t communist and was fairly democratic and its people preferred it to be that way after that agreement expired.  China decided to take over forcibly and Hong Kong “lost” the war.
You and the annexation of Hawaii…Hawaii lost its war too, that’s in the past.  The American republic is still strong.  It is declining but I fault that a bit to trump.  We must expand not contract.  Teach the ways of America to the world.  Better the world with freedom and democracy.  Fight socialists and communists.  Unite the world.
