Perhaps I wasn't arguing that from the beginning? I was saying liberals (left) are getting more liberal and conservatives (right) are getting more conservatives. Both alienating the middle/independents. And going to extremes. Hence graph....
America as a whole yes is going more liberal.
Wait what? Since when is conservatives not the "right" party? Are democrats no longer left in your world too?
Do some research -- REAL research.
The Left is sliding so far left, the LIBERALS are no longer part of them. if you think "Liberals are becoming more Liberal" is valid, it would mean people on the Left are sliding more to the center, since the center is where most mainstream, traditional Liberals reside. Leftists are becoming LESS Liberal as they shift to the extreme Left, because the Democrats are adopting the extreme views and ideologies of the far left.
Trying to say Conservative vs. Liberal to any degree is like defining shades of blue and red. What's happening is the Reds of all shades are staying Red, while the blues are trending toward green -- a new shade that has drifted away from the blues.
You have only to look at Bernie Sanders, a lifelong, self-proclaimed Socialist who ran TWICE as a Democrat. He's about as radical as any Liberal can be, yet listen to the so-called moderate Liberals promising the SAME THING he started promising: free college, free healthcare, a massive wealth tax, guaranteed income, and all available to citizens and non-citizens alike. Of course, they all have to add more gun control, because these policies are what cause revolts in many countries. Can't have the means to defend the country and a shift to Socialism at the same time!
